I have a few of these in doors and it works pretty well very nice for hiding your wireless sensor.

I bought 5 of the door sensors plunger type. Replace them with these sensors. They work great, easy to program. All my doors took only 5 minutes to install. Very pleased!

These are great sensors. They easily transmitted across my entire house, and I have a pretty big house. You do need to have your installers access code, and a bit of programming no-how, to get them added to your system, but I have both and setup was a 5 minute breeze.The one thing I didn't like is how long the main sensor is. I had to drill really far up into the door frame to get it to fit. In one of my doors, unbeknownst to me, the construction was a little funky and no matter how hard I tried to drill a straight line up into the door, the inner wall pushed my drill bit out and caused a hole in my drywall. Then I had to use some tools to dig out a proper channel for the sensor and patch up the drywall over the door. It all works now, and looks great, but it wouldn't have been nearly as much of an issue if the sensor wasn't so long.

Plan on using this as an earthquake detector for triggering a water main shut-off valve. This Ademco switch will work with my Z-Wave enabled security system to trip a Z-wave controlled water shut-off valve if there is any earth movement. Magnet will be mounted to hang above the switch to keep it closed unless their is an earthquake. If the earth moves the magnet will swing and open the switch. This will be the condition to trigger the closure of the water main valve. If any pipes are broken below or inside the house during a major California earthquake no water should flow inside the home. Water main shut-off valve will also close automatically if there is a power outage which could also occur during a major event like an earthquake. A small 9VDC or 12VDC battery or other power source applied to the valve will open the valve even during a full-blown extended power outage.

Pros:Easy to install with a cordless drill.Visually unintrusive once installed.Battery lasts for years; uses a standard AAA.Works great for both security and home automation.Cons:The piece that holds the electronics in the plastic case is fairly soft and will break if you're not careful (I haven't broken any - yet).The little rubber piece that holds the electronics in tightly comes out and could be lost.Notes:I use these for both security and home automation. I have six of them so far - four in exterior doors and two in interior doors (basement and garage). They work very well and can be physically installed easily. Programming the Vista (or other Honeywell-based system like ADT) is impossible without the installer code and difficult if you're not used to it.I have my Vista hooked up to my VeraLite home automation controller and use these for scenes - for example, turn on the basement lights when the door is opened - and they work well for that, also.

My previous one died and this one fit right in the hole and got programmed into the alarm system with out a problem

This is a much better sensor alternative than the traditional rectangles you see mounted above doors. It took a bit to install, and the thin plastic lip can slice you if you're not careful. It also uses a single AAA battery which could easily be a rechargeable and save you a good bit on alarm batteries over the years.

This is worth the extra money to get rid of the ugly and cheesy looking door sensors. It's easy to install if you have a drill. If you're wondering what kind of hole you need I drilled a 3/4" hole in my door jamb for the sensor and then a 3/8" hole in the door for the magnet. Just grab a 3/4 spade bit and a 3/8 bit when you order and you'll be set. Works great

Paid $63 plus tax but my control panel was not able to program it so I had to return it where they only gave me a $50 refund.
