Reliable and consistent
We finished our basement and often wouldn't hear the doorbell and couldn't hear anyone knocking at the door, so we had our security company install this to detect motion in our driveway. I wanted to be sure it would get someone walking to our front or garage door, but not all the traffic driving by or small animals. It has worked very well for us. With each ring, there is always someone (or something) there. We did get several rings in the middle of the night and when we went to see who/what it was, we found six deer (eating my shrubs). No fault of the device or installation, but keep this little story in mind if you live in the country.Another thing I like about this device is that you can add additional sensors and they can ring a different tone on the receiver. So I could have one in my driveway and another on my shed out back and each could have a unique ring.I understand that the battery life is expected at two years and can only speak to that I have not had any issues yet (installed 9 months ago) and I have made it through the coldest part of the winter (in Maine) with no issues.I spent probably 10-15 minutes with the installer deciding how to adjust the eye (turning the eye will limit what it picks up) but you can also adjust for a wide fan pattern (17') or a narrow long range pattern (50').It has worked very well for us, so well in fact, that we are here on Amazon buying one for a friend.

Outstanding alarm - High;y recommended
I have used these units for over 20 years (dating back to when when Jansen Electronics made under their brand). My driveway is aprox 550 feet long and we have never had a problem with communications. The 9v battery really does last between 18 - 24 months. I placed additional sensors on my front and back porches. I even have one monitoring the wildlife feeder and the grandkids love that alert.I recently added an additional receiver on my shop and linked to 3 sensors - communications works perfectly even though my shop is a metal Morton Building. Nice to be alerted to a vehicle arriving while I'm working on the shop. I Highly recommend this alarm - it has served me well for many years with ZERO issues.

It works
My driveway is approximately 100' long. I place the transmitter atop a pillar at one side of the entrance and the receiver is in a front room of the house facing the driveway. Transmission of alerts has so far been perfect. Well, the alarm goes off when something is happening every time I've been there to check on it.Not sure exactly why but a squirrel has adopted this thing. For a minute or two EVERY morning, he/she climbs the pillar and zooms around the top piece 2' square a few times. I think this guy is looking for nuts or something. Anyway, as a testament to the alert power, every time he goes up there I get a bunch of alerts. When the wind is blowing hard (Colorado 20 miles east of the mountains, it gets windy) I get occasional "false" alerts. I put the quotes there because I'm inclined to say that either the wind is rattling the sensor thus altering the image slightly generating false movement (mine is NOT bolted down) or something within the range of the beam is moving and thus causing alerts. Most of the time, like 99% or so, all is quiet unless an intended alert occurs, someone walks up the driveway, a car enters the driveway. My house is not gigantic but it takes a while to get from the basement family room up to the front door. I mainly use this thing not in a security setting but in a heads up something's happening mode. A driver walks up or drives up to my house with a delivery and I can generally beat him or her to the door. Without this I'd not know they were there until they pressed the doorbell and then they'd have a bit of a wait. So ...I like it and feel it was well worth the investment.Oh, one additional thing. this guy is rated down to 15 degrees F. It's worked fine well below that temp after sitting there all night even with an alkaline battery. I'm thinking a Lithium might be more reliable but so far no worries.

the Optex 20U product line has great quality and flexibility *****
I am very impressed with the Optex TD-20U and RC-20U combination. Installation and setup are very easy and adjusting the sensor/transmitter unit for optimum sensitivity was pretty simple. I installed three RC-20U sensor/transmitters along my driveway which ii over 1/4 mile long. I spaced them at 200', 350' and 450' from the house on trees that are located along the drive. I have two RC-20U receivers in the house located in different areas. The one closest to the wall facing the drive receives signal every time the sensors are triggered. I have located the second transmitter in different rooms, testing the ability of the signal to penetrate multiple walls. When I get to where a detached garage is directly between the transmitter and receiver, the signal fails. The alarm volume can be adjusted from soft to annoyingly loud and having multiple soft receivers located throughout the house will work best for me. I have ordered a TR-20U which I will use to relay signals from the front of the house to multiple receiver/annunciators in my final layout for soft chimes and full coverage. I'm very pleased with both the quality and flexibility of the Optex 20U product line and would highly recommend it for anyone regardless of the size of their house or length of their driveway.

Very Good Product
The Optex brand is of the highest quality money can buy. I have been using the Optex 1000 series now for over 12 years and it works Fantastic and is still being used for my driveway and after all of these years it still works perfect. This unit I just purchased is actually going to be used for something that probably has never before been used for. See my Mother is 91 years old and getting Dementia really bad. She refuses to leave her own home and live with me and my wife or any other family members. So it has gotten to the point where us and other family members are taking turns staying all night and day 24-7. During the night sometimes she will get up at about 1 to 2 in the morning. I put the sensor under her bed so when her feet hit the floor, whoever is there will know she is up and moving about. it works well and does the job.

Very good
I ordered this and it came the next day. Very impressive. The unit itself works very well. The only issue I have with it is that it detects blowing snow off the field on windy days and goes off constantly during these times. I have it parallel and about 10 feet away from a busy highway and it does not pick up anything from the highway. Good product, ok price, good vendor. Would purchase this again.

Optex Works Perfectly
The Optex works perfectly. We live in the country and the Optex notifies us when someone turns onto our driveway, which is over 400 feet long. The motion detector is installed on the side of a tree, about 12 feet above the ground, at the end of the driveway. The receiver is installed in our office with a wall between the motion detector and the receiver. When my wife is at home alone and the chime sounds, she is able to check out visitors before they come to the door. No more surprise visitors.

Now you know Company is coming
It worked very well in a rural location to allow for notification that someone is driving down the the access road.So far no issues with cold temperatures in Alberta.

Unreliable
My son bought one of these product and had good luck with it. Unfortunately it has also died.I have purchase two of them and both quite working just past their return dates so I got a couple pieces of junk. They both still work but will only send signal about 5 feet.Had to put my $25.00 one back up as it still works after a couple years. Just not water proof.
