Viva Decor130080 Glass Effect Gel 28ml, Crystal Clear

As a mixed media artist, I use a lot of products. No, make that A LOT. Sadly, without any free samples or comped supplies, I still probably own *something* from just about every line out there. (Companies would do well to load me up! lol) I have recently become slightly addicted to Viva's Glass Effect Gel & Pearl Pens, which are two different products, but very similar. The Glass Effect Gel is a translucent gel - the Pearl Pens are the same consistency, but look creamier and (you won't believe this) have a pearl look to them. (I know - a real zinger, right?!) I have been using these on cured polymer clay and the look is AMAZING! Be careful not to put too much on because the Glass Effect Gel Pen will kind of crack while drying - so your project will go from looking like glass to...well...cracked glass. Unfortunately, not in a good way. Too much Pearl Pen will render...a gloppy mess. Applied with a brush, beautiful effects can be expected.Both of these formulas are AMAZING. FANTASTIC! The Pearl Pen is great at making real-looking half-pearls. They self-dome and don't take any time at all to make. You can make whatever size/color half-pearls you need and use them in scrapbooking, home decor, etc. Pre-made half-pearls can get expensive...but (depending on size) you can make a TON out of one bottle of this stuff. That's probably an accurate term, too - a literal "ton". Ok, maybe not literally...but you can make more than you'll ever need. (Outstanding if you are making your own wedding invitations or programs, cards, scrapbooking, decorating for a wedding...the sky is the limit!) The Glass Effect Gel dries to a shiny, glass-looking surface. Decorating glass, acrylic, paper, polymer clay...it's all so easy. The tip on the container is small, but if you want to write with these then I suggest buying a needle-tip bottle. Then write, draw, fill in, decorate, whatever you want. The finished product is dishwasher safe (although I would hand wash in warm water), it's strong, and it's beautiful. (If you are making the half-pearls I was talking about, squeeze the drops out onto waxed paper, teflon craft sheet, etc.) Using clear Glass Effect Gel on glass makes the glass look almost like leaded crystal.I can't recommend these highly enough. I love how they dry and I enjoy their versatility. You can apply it directly from the bottle, use a brush, or even apply it through a stencil. You can also remove it from most surfaces without it leaving a residue if you make a mistake. My only warning? Be careful - you may wind up having to order all the colors Viva offers. I suggest checking around price wise - prices on this stuff can vary big time.Bottom line: Awesomely unique supply that yields really cool results. It's great on porous and non-porous surfaces alike - just make sure it isn't glopped on too heavily while it dries or you might not get the results you want. Otherwise, order...quickly!

I purchased this gel to create the look of dew drops on my polymer clay projects. Very high shine, dries quickly, and isn't sticky. I got the best price for this item on Amazon. I researched the craft sites and eBay before making my purchase here on Amazon.

Looove the glass effect and ease of use.

Love Viva Décor products and this Transparent Glass Effect Gel Pen is a welcome addition to their line. Just be sure to let it dry the 3 to 4 hours it recommends. Going to try it on vellum the next time I heat emboss the front of the vellum and Copic color the back side of the vellum. Believe it will help to get that stained glass effect.

I opened the product and tried to squeeze some out and it didn't budge. Opened the top to find that the entire bottle was dried up. So disappointed.

I work with polymer clay and resin, and I purchased this gel pen for a very specific project, which it should have been perfect for. However, it was extremely slow to dry and was still tacky after almost a week. So I applied a small amount of heat and it immediately yellowed (yikes & yuk both) making it a dud for this particular project. I might give it another try sometime in the future, but not on a serious project. Maybe other user are having better luck, but I was not impressed.

Ich hatte gehofft, dass das Gel nach dem Trocknen etwas elastisch bleibt.Leider ist dem nicht so.Aber wenn man einen Glaseffekt erziehlen möchte - und das ist ja das Ziel des Gels - , ist dies Gel genau die richtige Wahl:Leicht und sauber aufzutragen - und der Glanz ist auch sehr schön.Hat man allerdings etwas unsauber gearbeitet, lässt sich das Gel nicht wieder abziehen. Es ist knochenhart...Auf Papier sollte man es also tunlichst nicht nutzen (so wie ich es versucht habe: Als Regeneffekt für ein Aquarellbild.)
