oh, yum
i expect there is a less expensive way to buy beets, but i live in a rural village, fifteen miles from a supermarket [tho we have a nice mom and pop store here] and twenty miles from a big box discount store. i'm delighted about being in a cozy comfy community, away from the wiz and glam, and glad i gave up my car in retirement for a three wheeled bike. its amazing how much easier it is to live in retirement without a gas-hogging car! so, having my box of beets appear on my porch is a treat..so, to canned beets. i love them. and all of you know libbys is / was and will be a trusted brand for quality. and they are so darned good for our health! i could go on and on about their antioxidants and fiber etc, but you all can Google beet nutrition and get it all spelled out. and what a great food if you are on a diet! a splash of balsamic vinegar changes the hefty bland sweetness to a sparkling kicking tongue tang.so i suggest setting yourself up as a repeat buyer thru amazon for a 12-pack of libbys beets, even if you DO have a car and can drive to the market . . you KNOW you're not going to pick up a dozen cans, even if theyre on sale... a beet is not a sexy veg! So, go with the internet order: the price is right and you'll be glad you did as you dip into your beet supply a lot more regularly with them on the shelf [unless you can't stand beets, of course].

Delicioius, versatile beets....
Libby's Small Whole Beets, 15-Ounce Cans (Pack of 12) Fresh beets in the grocery stores are large, expensive, time consuming, and a mess to prepare...Voila! Enter: Libby's small whole canned beets...With these delicious little guys you can serve them whole, sliced or pickled...They enhance salads and other foods at mealtime...The cans hold beets to capacity and you can leave them whole or slice them and serve them plain or add apple cider vinegar,a little sugar, and a dash of cinnamon to the canned juice, heat them to a boil for a few minutes, let them sit for a short time and you've got yourself very tasty pickled beets..If you dice them and add corn starch at the end of your heating and pickling process, cook until thickend to taste, and you've got Harvard beets...Actually, these are good enough to eat cold right out of the can as is...Canned whole beets are more expensive in the stores and you also pay more for the sliced pickled beets...For me, the Libby's beets are a winning option...They are nutritious, easy to work with, economical and available in lots of 12 cans so you have them at home when you want them...Amazon delivers them free with Prime and they arrive quickly...What's not to like unless you don't like beets?!

According to Libby's, each can contains 875mg of sodium and 140 calories
These delicious beets would be extremely healthy for us to eat if Libby's didn't add lots of salt to them. Canned sugar beets are delicious enough by themselves and don't need any added salt. This product is just slightly more delicious than canned sliced beets. It's also a little easier to prevent the spilling and splattering of the beet juice from this product on to the carpet than with the canned sliced beets. The color of my urine became red/brown for several days after I ate just 1 can of this product. It's considered normal and healthy when this happens after eating beets. Some websites say that (1)people who are severely deficient in iron and (2)people who are eating a diet that is rich in iron are both much more likely to end up with bronze-colored urine after eating beets compared to people who eat diets with only moderate amounts of iron. [I've been eating lots of fenugreek seeds, which are very high in iron].

All cans dented
Tray was beautifully wrapped in bubble wrap but every can was dented. Did not ask to return as was afraid it would be sent to someone else. Have thrown all in garbage as dented so bad, was afraid contents contaminated.

Finally available, usually out of stock.
I have always liked small whole beets. Have never seen them at the grocery store since I moved to Florida, and for a long time they were always out of stock on Amazon, so when they were in stock I bought like 24 cans and am very pleased.
