Perfect Book for Young Bird Enthusiasts
My 7 year old daughter is obsessed with birds and LOVES this book. It has enough words to be informative and make her feel like it's a "real, grown-up book" - but also has kid-friendly explanations/graphics and plenty of pictures. It includes 20 common birds, so most everything we see regularly can be found in here. (If I were to have any complaints about this book, I just wish it had more birds - given how much she loves it.) The book groups birds into sections by color, which makes it very easy to find a bird. And she loves the bird-watching log at the back, so she can record where/when she spots each bird. If your kiddo loves birds like mine does, I highly recommend this book!!

Great for beginners and kids
I bought this for the Great Backyard Bird Count in Feb, 2021 to do with my 7 year old grandson and it is basic, but good. I like that it is organized by bird color, making it easy to find the bird quickly. I recommend for this purpose.

A perfect book for children of any age.
I purchased this book for my seven-year-old great grandson. While he was staying with us he got interested in watching the birds that came to our several feeders. So I found this book and thought he would like it. He loved it! Now he can identify the birds that come to our feeder by name. A great little book

A Little Disappointed, though not entirely...
For all of the children in our lives this past holiday season I purchased bird feeders and this bird book. The colorful illustrations are well done and descriptions are just fine; understandable and not overwhelming. But the really disappointing thing is that there just aren't enough birds covered. In fact, several of our grandchildren really enjoy bird watching, but half of the regulars at their feeders don't make an appearance within the pages of this books, which left them disappointed. The description of this book is rather vague, so it is difficult to ascertain the true contents without purchasing the book first. But after reading countless reviews of children's bird books, I chose to trust the publisher, Peterson's Field Guides, as I use their guides for other things and, especially like my Peterson's Field Guide to Birds of North America. But this version? Not my favorite at all. I'd suggest you look elsewhere for a book with more than just a handful of specimens.

Great for kids interested in the birds around them.
My 5 year old step-granddaughter loves this book and uses it to identify birds outside her window. Just today a Morning dove. The next addition could add another 10 or 20 birds. Kids today learn pretty fast.

What’s great about this book
It gives lots of information about the birds and their habitats. Parents can guide the young bird watchers and the older kids can do it on their own.
