Alltrade070008 2 Piece Got Wrench Set (colors may vary)

I purchased these back in 2014, and have now been using them for opening tight jar lids. Because they're adjustable they will work on a large range of sizes. They never scratch and have never failed to open the tightest, most difficult to open lids.For those cases when you just cannot hold the jar itself tightly enough to prevent it from rotating, you just need to use the second one of these Wrenches and - Voila the lid opens easily.While many rubber materials disintegrate and fall apart from the sulfur in the air, this pair of Alltrade Wrenches still grip tight.No kitchen should be without these - especially if your handgrip is not as strong as it used to be. Especially great for anyone with any kind of arthritis.

Every month or so there comes a lid, one so tight, that you might wish you had one of these. And if you're not making that wish, it's because you have one of these. Why buy on Amazon? Check your local hardware store, I guarantee you these are the cheapest you'll find. One of these alone goes for $20. These are 2 for $15! That's an epic deal, one I wouldn't pass up. My only issue with these are the quality of the handle. The logos will peel off in a few days, and the plastic handle leaves something to be desired.

Just remember, "Lefty loosey", The large one goes on the body of the glass jar, and the small one goes on the lid that you want to open up.......both fairly snug and each gripping to opposing the other, set about three inches apart so that when you squeeze them together using both hands the jar will open easily...........You can do this with very little practice........but until you get the hang of it........a good idea to do it at the kitchen sink.

Snapped the strap on the small one doing a job that requires less 50 foot pounds torque. Larger one has worked well although the rubber may slip on some surfaces. At this price point they work okay for light jobs.

The odds of having to change a tightly screwed on round thing of any size are close to zero but when you need a wrench to take the round thing off and do not have a Got Wrench of either size you are in trouble. I made my own tape and clamp contraption to no avail. An extension cord wrapped around a mechanic's wrench made me look like the fool I am. They did not compare to the Got Wrench Set in any way shape or form. The first job I needed this wrench for was to take off and replace a blower's blower tube and sucker contraption. Old standby ideas just did not work but the Got Wrench works like a charm. I felt as if I knew what I was doing. A few days later it was time to change the oil in my lawnmower. No hassle with the Got Wrench. On to the oil filter, a tightening and a twist. It was off and of course it dripped. That's O.K., because it was so easy and a few drops of oil did not matter. Another job finished and now I can brag about having the finest Got Wrench Set around.

Non-marring plastic strap wrenches such as these have a multitude of uses including unscrewing jammed optics, jars, etc.Unfortunately this is one of the plastic products produced in eastern Asia (in this case China) that gives off a foul chemical smell that did not disappear after leaving these wrenches outside on my porch for over a week. Exactly what chemical compound(s) create this smell is uncertain; mold release agent, unpolymerized monomers, pthlates, mercaptans or ??? Thus the toxicity is uncertain but the only way we as consumers can get the message back to these overseas manufacturers is send it back. In the long run, this will hopefully better protect the unfortunate workers producing this stuff without the protection of OSHA, the FDA, unions, etc. in countries with minimal legal protection for ordinary people.For further not authoritative web sites, Google smelly chinese plastic or halt import chemical-emitting plastic china. This is the same part of the world that has produced toxic toothpaste (diethylene glycol), poisonous pet food (melamine), dangerous drywall (emits sulfide gases which corrode copper coils in air conditioning systems and wiring), etc. Workers and consumers in these countries do not have the power to fix this. The best they can do is avoid it (e.g. buy imported infant formula because some of the formula produced in their country contained melamine; Google 2008 Chinese milk scandal).Any possible toxicity aside, the stench is enough to not buy these wrenches.

I ordered Two of these wrenches six months ago. I used them to open and close the lids on large plastic IBC totes. At six months of use one wrench has completely broken off. The rubber strap started cracking and finally broke making the strap too short to wrench anything. The Second wrench looks to be the same as the first in every way except I notice that there are thin wires imbedded in the rubber strapping to give added strength. These thin wires have busted through the strap but if you place the wires as well as the rubber from the strap it is somewhat still functional. I don't know why one wrench has wires and the other is made differently without them. They should be the same. I have a wrench just like this from one of the big box hardware stores that was double the price but has lasted me two years in the same operation and use. I would also add that the length of the rubber strap isn't as long as the big box store wrench. This Alltrade wrench will probably be able to open a 9" cylinder but nothing larger than that. You get what you pay for I guess.

It's a great tool but I wasn't expecting something that big. I was going to use it in the kitchen, I could unscrew trees with it.
