Works on worts
Applied it to 2 warts on my fingers that have been there for years. Smaller one is almost totally clear after 1 month of usage. Bigger wart is noticeably smaller. I’ve tried every wort remover out there and finally found something that is working. And it is so inexpensive, I still have most of the bottle left. I just add drops on the affected skin several times a day, saturate it so it gets thru the skin to the wart root.

You may like another brand better
Pure iodine is a dark violet solid. Dissolved in alcohol it is brown. Reacted with starch it is blue. So making it "colorless" is a bit of a trick. Most formulas are exactly like this one; alcohol, iodine, potassium iodide salt, and ammonium hydroxide. You can smell both the iodine, and the ammonia, until it dries. I like iodine because it works on almost all microorganisms, bacteria and fungi. You don't have decide if you need bacitracin, neomycin, terbenifine, tolnaftate, or whatever, one product can do it inexpensively. The only advantage of this iodine is, it "usually" does not stain. If your skin has a low pH (acidic) because of something else you handled, it may turn brown. I have used Humco reagents since I was a child. I do not know if this is the same owners, or if it was acquired by another (foreign?) company. Whoever runs Humco now, needs to put a seal on the cap. The cap leaks, and no seal, inspires no confidence. I am using the bottle I purchased here, and it is what I expected, when I bought it. Yes, this stings on an open cut. Povidone-iodine solution (like Betadine) does not. Generally I prefer to let it dry, and not bandage it wet, because it could lead to skin irritation if it stayed wet too long. As for alcohol being the "Active Ingredient" (rather than iodine) it is probably because this is not a USP formulation, so the FDA might get offended if you made a claim (anti-infection) for something they have not approved (after a lengthy and rigorous testing protocol, and paying a hefty fee). Look up something similar, like; CVS brand de-colorized iodine, and it is described the same way.
