Perfect for my mutant duck feet

I have short, very wide feet that make it hard to shop for shoes. I bought a pair of these in "Wide" width hoping for the best, and I was not disappointed. So far they are supremely comfortable and fit just about perfectly. We'll see how long they last, but for now I'm very satisfied. The only complaint I have is that the laces could have been a bit longer. But that's not a big deal.

As advertised

These have replaced a pair I bought 4 years ago. I am looking for the same wear out time as the first ones. Time will tell.

Perfect fit. Easy break-in period.

Great Boots but . . . .

I normally don't like ordering shoes online unless I've tried them on in a store and know all the specifics of what I need/like. I took a chance on these since they come highly recommended by my brothers who have, of course, similar feet.I love them -- they feel like I'm walking on clouds and, for once, they are the right length -- that is to say, my toes don't get rubbed off (my big toe is too long -- it's a family trait). My brother told me he gets the shoe in WIDE so I did too. Well, if this is wide (and the labeling on the shoe says it is), I'd hate to see what medium or narrow is.So, buyer beware -- while these are great shoes, if you need a wide shoe, these are not for you.

Best arch and ankle support I have found.

I work on my feet 8 hours a day.In 2010 I was suffering from Plantar Fasciitis, and wore Dr. Scholl’s arch support insoles with every shoe I owned, as recommended my foot doctor, and that worked well enough. One day, while shopping for hiking boots, I came across these ones, and noticed the great arch support they had, bought them, started wearing them to work, and never needed the Dr Scholl’s insoles again. They not only have great arch support, but also great ankle support. When they are new, I can stand in one place for a long time and my feet don’t hurt or tire. It actually feels like someone is holding my feet straight. The arch support holds well for over two years, the ankle support diminishes in a few months, but it is still noticeable over a year later. Overall, I need a new pair every two years or so. I do always own two pairs at a time, and I wear them all the time.My plantar fasciitis disappeared after wearing these boots. Still today, if I wear any other shoes, like my sneakers, and walk around for half an hour, my feet hurt, but with these boots, I can walk or stand all day, and feel no pain or tiredness.A couple of years ago I devoted a whole day to shopping for a different pair of boots that had equally good arch support. Went to different stores, tried on many pairs of different brands, including other Timberlands, but I could not find any model that was such a complete solution as these Chocorua are. Either the arch support was not as good, or they were not as comfortable, or they lacked the ankle support these have. In the end, I ended up buying two more pairs of these Chocorua. However, Timberland has discontinued these boots, as I learned when I contacted them directly. They are now only available through outlets like Amazon, or Zappos,I highly recommend them if you have my foot problems. I also went on many hikes with these boots and they performed excellently, even after wearing them for months at work.I read the comments about waterproofing, and Gore Tex vs. Timberdry (mine are Timberdry), and though waterproofing is not a factor for me, I can tell you that these boots are on my feet 90% of my time with shoes on, and I have worn them through snow and rain many times, and have never experienced any dampness, or water leaking.

Great quality, style and tread.

The size was perfect but the padding inside is fairly generous and made for a tight fit until they broke in a bit. Good support and sturdy so far.

Waterproof, great quality and very light weight

Very good product of the highest quality.

Great boot for narrower feet

This is my third pair of this boot - each previous pair lasting around four years, and providing literally thousands of kilometres of reliable and comfortable walking and hiking. I've used these in winter as well, through slush, snow, ice, and in the summer over puddle, roots, rocks, and more. They absorb and pad imperfections (eg. rocks) extremely well and although I've had to resole the back heels a couple of times due to wear, they have exceeded my expectations and keep me coming back.Fit wise, I have a relatively narrow foot and these fit very comfortably, including with custom orthotics (with standard included insoles removed). Laces stay tied and are quick to do up due to the hooks around the ankle rather than holes, and once broken in fit very softly around the shape of your foot.I've attached some photos to see how they look after 4 years of very heavy and regular use. They almost look like a different boot but believe it or not these are the same model and colour! I did not protect these in any way which may have kept them more colour-fast, but these for were bought for function not fashion, and on that front they definitely delivered. They stayed waterproof (down low anyways - you wouldn't want to get into ankle deep water due to the tongue not being delayed against the boot) and while not a winter boot they also stay warm in lightly freezing temps while breathing well and keeping cool in the summer. What else to say? A great value and while I am tempted to try a more expensive shoe to see what all the fuss is about, I once again find myself grabbing another pair of these and plan to wear them into oblivion.

Are they waterproof?

NO they are not! Both let in water during a cycle in torrential rain.Otherwise waterproof enough for showers and maybe the odd dip in water.

Decent boot although slightly small

I ordered a 1/2 size up on these but they are still a little tight on the width. They will probably fit better after a few wears. I would suggest buying at least a 1/2 size bigger then your usual fit or even 1 full size up.Nicely made and light. I did expect a lot more cushioning in the sole, they are quite hard but support well. Laces are too short for a decent double knot.

These boots are very poor quality. Mine are not a year old yet ...

These boots are very poor quality. Mine are not a year old yet but they are almost ready for the dustbin. Despite dubbing quite frequently there are numerous cracks on the front and stitching is coming loose. They have been used almost daily since arrival for dog walks through fields which are sometimes quite wet and muddy but this is not rough terrain at all. Furthermore, the grip is terrible and on wet mud I slip and slide a lot and might as well be wearing flip flops. I researched to choose wisely having had other well known named products that required replacement and other customers stated these were worth considering. I regret buying them and am now researching their replacement which will not be Timberland.
