Better than Book 1!

Book 1 was great, but this one is even better! It's getting closer to an all out war between the X-Men and Apocalypse and the X-Men are doing all they can t save humanity and prevent a full scale war! This Book goes more into detail about the humans struggle in the land that is controlled by Apocalypse. Mr. Sinister has abandoned Apocalypse and started his plan to stop him.We meet a new character know as Nate Grey who has crazy levels of psychic powers and is learning to master them. We also meet many other mutants during this book. Toward the end we meet the group of mutants know as the Externals who Gambit leads during the Age of Apocalypse.

Age of Apocalypse Book 2: Kindle Fire Format

The Kindle format of the Age of the Age of Apocalypse Book 2 is phenomenal. It is easy to read but for obvious reasons you must use a tablet for there is no color with a basic Kindle reading device. I used the Kindle Fire for enjoying this complete work, and (if you buy it for Kindle Fire) don't forget to double click on one of the comic strips; it highlights the section and makes it pop out and makes the print larger. There were a couple of pages where the print was difficult to read and that was in the pop-up/highlight mode. There were a couple of times when you navigated the digital comic that there would be a blank strip. You would have to deselect the strip which takes you out of the pop-up/highlight mode so you can see what the comic strip was, and then there was the trouble reading that strip. I still enjoyed the comic minus those discrepancies. If Amazon fixes those bugs I will change my rating to a 5.

Awesome!!

I felt about the first half of this book the same way I felt about the first book, that it was more about the build up. It seemed like a set up for the events to come, but after you get over that hurtle you really start to see things get going, and it gives you an idea of the direction of this story. I loved the second half of this, the pacing seemed to speed up for me, and there were a lot of things that threw me off and surprised me, which is good! This alternate Universe is simply badass, and I can't wait to read Book 3.

Not for the Non-Expert X-Men type of guy

I'm agree this whole saga is interesting because of the very different roles each X-Men Universe character has taken in this stories, however I don't feel the hype as much others because I'm not an X-Men Universe expert.I see tons of characters that I don't know and several different stories that occur at the same time that makes me dizzy.KIND OF SPOILER ALERTThe one thing is giving me a whole lot of problems is that, now that I'm done with volume 1 and 2, I feel that the whole saga I bought is rather incomplete. I tought I was going to be able to appreciate and see Charles Xavier's murder, and the machination behind it. I thought I was going to have a retrospective fantastic story of how Weapon X (aka Wolverine) rescue Jean Grey from the pits, and witness the fantastic showdown between him and Cyclops and know exactly how Weapon X lose a hand and Cyclops an eye.END OF SPOILER ALERTI mean, this is not the only issue I haven't seen... there are a few others, but with minor importance. Still I think I haven't got anything exiting that makes me think I made the right choice by getting these books.I'll start book 3 today, and I hope I'll be impressed, otherwise I'll be selling my copies without even think it.

This is where it starts

I understand what Marvel was doing with the first volume of these collections, but this is really where people should be reading the Age of Apocalypse. The first volume is good for die-hards like myself. It gives you more of a back story to everything happening but there are really only two issues in the first volume that make it worthwhile.Volume 2 is where we start to get the meat and potatoes of the AoA storyline. Great storytelling, great artwork, and highly recommended for any X-Men fans or fans of post-apocalyptic/alternate timeline stories. Don't bother with volume 1 unless you absolutely have to read it. This is where is starts.

Awesome!!

I grew up reading comics and one of my all time favorite comic stories is "The Age of Apocalypse"! The story takes place in an alternate reality in which Apocalypse has taken over the America and is in an all out war with mankind, While a small group of mutants that include many of our favorite X-men and surprising other mutants try to save the world. This is volume 2 out of four.

I love this story

Loved this story the first time I read it, love it now 20 years later. Best characters, best artwork, best villain! I like the books as opposed to the omnibus because you get a little more out of it. The first book isn't exactly necessary when reading the AOA story. Start with this book and you won't lose anything. I like the character bios, the original covers, and the chronology is perfect.

Amazon destroyed Comixology

Why did you take a functioning app that no one had a problem with and ruin it? Why don’t you admit what you did and just put it back how it was? Is it spite?

Age of Apocalypse was a defining moment in comic book history and this volume is one of four that captures it all.

Age of Apocalypse was a defining moment in comic book history and this volume is one of four that captures it all. The only gripe with the whole series is the extensive files on the characters in this alternate universe series mean that you lose a quarter of one of the volumes - they would have been better spread out

This is where it all REALLY begins

Any X-men fan should read their biggest ever storyline - and its finally possible to do that in chronological order thanks to these epic volumes! If you're a new fan, or missed the initial print some 10yrs ago now (like I did), then this is a must. The first book was a little disappointing as stories were all over the place and you really didnt know what was happening, with characters and teams changing from each segment. Its understandable as I discovered that most of them were back stories written after the main event. Hence why anyone starting should read this first and the epic book 1 last.Seeing the characters we all know and love as different incarnations is fascinating. Good guys now bad guys and vice versa, super-cool different costumes, new teams and leaders, and mutants exploring different sides of their powers. Watch how relationships unfold - Magneto and Rogue, Wolverine and Jean Grey, and more intriguingly, the brotherly rivalry of Havok and Cyclops. All these elements wrapped up in a truly "epic" storyline involving major players and those with small cameos, in a world without Professor X, against the X-men's greatest ever villian - Apocalypse! The only slight complaint I have is the artwork, which is ok for its day, but not a patch on anything now. Additionally, there are a few irritating typo's, but overall this is highly recommended and you definitely won't be able to find it anywhere cheaper then Amazon!
