A mafia hit man is going around the world killing people ,and disfiguring them after they die, and them committing a rape in the general area afterwards.He tells the ones he allows to live not to say anything to any one and shows them pictures of people he has cut up , to maintain their silence.One of these victims talks to Maria Cross, the Doctors wife who is a nurse, but refuses to identify her attacker.The killer realizes this victim did indeed talk and he kills her and cuts up her face and then he tries to kill Maria Cross.Dr. Cross, a psychologist now, is brought into the case when the killer goes into his home to kill his wife, but leaves after talking with him for a couple of minutes. Maris is killed later that day.Dr. Cross becomes a consultant on the case and follows leads all around the D.C. area.Excellent story line and attention to detail, as is common with this writer. A great book in the series of Dr. Alex Cross.

I liked how we were able to go back into Alex Cross’ life with his wife, Maria. I keep wondering how James Patterson will be able to make the next book in the series hold my interest. The next book is always just as good as the last. I am a James Patterson fan. I’ve read other books his written, besides Alex Cross series and I enjoy them all.

Alex has amazing strength, in mind and body. Losing the love of his life and mother of his 2 oldest would be devastating but he keeps going. That alone is amazing but to also be a dragonslayer is beyond compare.

I just love this series. I started it the beginning of December 2019 I'm starting book 13 now and it's only January 8, 2020. Once you start reading one of these books you CANNOT STOP, CAN'T PUT IT DOWN until you finish it!!

Everything! Typical Alex and his wonderful family. There us always a twist and turn in all his books. Really keeps a person reading!

Alex Cross has done it again!! This time he not only brought us back to a previous crime, but he included the epic love story, grief counseling and the grieving process and solved an age old murder spree crime! THis was so danged good I couldn't put it down even when I needed to sleep because I just had to know more. Great read!!!

Reading this series, I've always wondered what exactly happened to Maria and who did it; now I know.I'd still like to have known what happened to little Alex's mom. I'm sure it'll be in the next book, at least I hope so.

Patterson continues to suck me in. By now I know the characters and their challenges and it makes the always intriguing stories that much better. Rock on "Sugar" - and you, too, Mr Patterson!

I am absolutely hooked on the doctor cross books, I'm up late in the night reading them. You can't help falling in love with the cross family, nanna especially please don't let her go anywhere in these books she a strong character and the thing that keeps the cross family who they are. I hope Alex find true love again it's sad they all leave. Great story in every book I can picture each character the way they look,the house everything, only truly great writer can turn a book into reality when you read them, just brilliant James Patterson

FBI Agent Alex Cross has now been with us for eleven books, and since the beginning he's been struggling with the murder of his wife Maria. Finally here in the twelfth book Cross gets a lead on the murderer responsible for her death and gets the chance to hunt them down.If you've read a Patterson book before then you'll know what to expect: Relentless pace, with quick and snappy chapters that will enable you to race through the story. Unfortunately though, the quick pace that is on offer with 'Cross' comes at the expense of losing a good story. Over the past few books in the series Patterson has managed to keep the pages flying but also include a bit of depth with his characters, but that isn't the case here. Overall it's not a bad book, if you've enjoyed the series so far then you'll no doubt enjoy this one too. I wouldn't recommend this one by itself though, start at the beginning with ' Along Came a Spider '. Along Came a Spider

This is the twelfth book in the Alex Cross series and they just get better and better with more twists and turns that keep you hanging on to every page. Alex Cross is on the trail of 'The Butcher', whom he believes may have murdered his wife Maria over ten years previously. Is he the man? or just a hit man for the mob, who has found himself in a tight situation? Well to find out you will have to get the book and delve within its pages for the answer?. So here's to good hunting!!!

Another great Alex Cross story. Ten years on and the mystery of Maria’s killer remains unsolved. The Butcher is back on the scene and for hire. Might he have the answers to Alex’s questions?Plenty of shootings, mutilations and rapes. Well written and fast moving. Hard to put down.

Having been in a bit of a reading slump for some time it was good to get back into reading after watching an Alex Cross movie. I'd read Alex Cross series previously so I picked it where I'd left off. An excellent fast paced page turner we fans have come to expect from the talented Mr Patterson, bring on book 13
