Sauder Edge Water Lift Top Coffee Table, Estate Black finish

Like another reviewer, I almost didn't order this table because of the large number of poor reviews. I know that ordering furniture online is oftena gamble; pieces are often damaged during shipment. So, I looked at dozens of lift-top coffee tables online and in brick and mortar furniture stores. We seriously considered a couple at Ashley furniture but they only had one in black and it was over $500 (and it was the price of the matching end tables at over $300 each that dissuaded me). Most of the lift-tops run at least $500 and some over $1000. I spent weeks researching before finally deciding to take a chance on this one. I am so glad I did!First off, this is a nice dark black/brown color. We have a built-in entertainment unit using Ikea black-brown shelving and this looks great with it. The Sauder end tables also coordinate well. Second, I have a long narrow living room and we needed a small table but still wanted it to be lift-top. This is the perfect size for any small living room. The design allows for displaying some decorations, or books. Finally, the lift-top is AWESOME. There is enough space beneath it to store my laptop and a few books. It lifts easily, but needs a bit more effort to lower.Yes, the table has some issues. The surface scratches if you look at it too hard; I had to use a black marker on a couple small scratches and they aren't noticeable. Frankly, I planned on using a runner anyway. It took a few hours to put together and not everything aligned as perfectly as I wanted. I had to leave off a couple of the cam locks, but it hasn't affected the table's stability at all. I put the entire thing together myself, except for the lift-top which needs two people.Overall, this is an excellent lift-top coffee table for the price (less than $150, prime, as of this writing). Someday, we may replace all our Sauder tables with high-end solid wood pieces (if we can find them in black!) but in the meantime I expect these will serve just fine for a few years. Highly recommended.

The best purchase you will ever make your life! I absolutely love this lift top. A little background, I had a herniated disk back in 2014. Recovery period roughly 2 years. I am also a hard core student and in college I majored in the biological sciences and was premed. Currently, I am preparing to apply to medical school and thus study for the MCAT (a 8 hour exam) anywhere from 8-10 hours a day. As you can imagine, sitting makes up the majority of my day. I used to sit at desk but after recovery, it used to hurt my back hard core. It would get triggered by sitting at desks. Then I saw this and bought it. Wow. Never another back pain day. As you can see in the pic, I use it primarily as a sort of desk for studying and working while I sit very comfortably on my sofa. I have never had back pain at this desk (and i sit there for 8-10 hours). That is the first major bonus. It is so comfortable then when my equally studious friends come over they want the best study spot in the house- the lift top desk. My friend wants to buy one. For what you get the price is excellent, and the build fine. The color is perfect bc it makes for easy studying as the material is light and I don't feel like I can't see any of my books. This is critical to staying focused. When I get tired of the same ole sitting I move to my white board. Then after a while I move back. It also makes for a very comfortable watching tv time. Also, pets love it. My cat loves to sit inside the storage area, and my parrot loves to sit on the edge being annoying. Also, the storage room is quite fabulous. I simply put all my prep books stacked on the far left because I jump around book to book on subjects, and I put my current everyday material in the middle shelf. I put materials that I will need in the future on the far right. Additionally, I put all the books I may need inside the storage unit. You can see it in the pic. Also, I had no problems in building it with another person (my mom helped me) and there was no damage. I can wipe coffee stains out with ease along with everything else. You will not regret buying this esp. if you are a student.

Product was delivered on time and was well packaged. All pieces and hardware accounted for. It was fairly easy to assemble. I had a few hiccups with putting the legs on wrong but the lock mechanisms make it easy to correct in only a few seconds. The manual is step by step and easy to follow and I was pleasantly surprised when I saw a web site listed in the manual for a full assembly video. What a bonus! I only needed help with putting the top on. One to hold it in place while the other fastened it. Other than that it was a breeze. It's very solid and the finish is beautiful. I can't believe I paid so little for a product of such quality. I definitely recommend it. Five stars and five thumbs up!

Was very pleasantly surprised. The table is extremely sturdy. Was able to put the whole thing together in 2 hours...lots of parts. Am handy and used to following assembly instructions, have done several IKEA assemblies, process very similar. You need an extra pair of hands at certain points to help hold things together.There was a slight discrepancy in the instructions, but easily figured out with all the diagrams, which are very clear and step by step, easy to follow...did not need the video instructions.I was expecting more of a flat black, but this was a very dark brown, almost black and while it is a laminate, you do see a bit of a grain finish to it, but looks great!

This is a love seat sized coffee table. It's exactly as it says it, if you read the measurements. It took about 2 hours to assemble. It's a nice looking table and works well. The storage inside the coffee table is small but decent enough for storing my laptop and other small things. The table is quite heavy and very sturdy and the tabletop lifts quite easily.

Wasnt ikea easy to assemble but still pretry easy.Love the popup feature. Its a perfect size for a condo and looks great.

Everything was great, it's the usual stuff - know you are buying 'eco-friendly' fibre board material that has a very thin laminate on it.For the price, compared to other things you can buy on the market, it's worth it.No nails in this kit, and the instructions are perfectly clear.
