Hama Digital HiFi Tuner DIT2100MSBT Internet Radio DAB+/ FM/App | Silver

My old PURE DAB tuner - DRX-702ES, does not have DAB+ capability and as more stations switch to a DAB+ signal, I decided to upgrade. There doesn't seem to be many DAB+ HiFi tuners available so I decided to go for one that has access to internet channels as well. For the price, it is an excellent unit, having access to FM, DAB, DAB+, Internet Radio, Amazon Music, Spotify. You can also connect the unit via Bluetooth to your mobile, to stream music. Sound quality wise, it isn't as clear and punchy as the PURE tuner but for the price and facilities it is worth it. You would have to pay substantially more for the facilities from other 'HiFi Tuner' brands. I also hope that the full colour LCD screen on the unit is made use of more in the future. I also think that there should be more 'colour on black background' options under 'Colour Theme' as this stands out more. The only thing that I find distracting is that the power LED goes out when powered on. Could this be made a two colour LED on future hardware to be RED on standby and BLUE or GREEN when powered on.

Good quality sound. Many different functions. A good addition to my hi-fi system.

This a amazing little machine.Great value ,as it can give you 35 DAB stations with 9 presets .Can also play Spotify files and has access to of loads of Pod casts. The most impressive ,feature is the dizzying amount of Internet stations on hand. I thought the sound quality would take a slide ,but on the whole ,through a mid price separates ,system there is little drop off in quality of sound ,with the present limitations of Digital output.. There is a beautiful little display window giving imformation about the show and track and band/artist names..The Internet ,stations have cute and colourful logos .This is a snip for the price. The only problem ,I've had with it ,is the amount of choice on show. I've also been impressed with the standard of music .I'm currently listening to Bossa Nova and Ska show on a station coming out of Sao Paulo.

As an analogue fan, i use fm quite a bit. The internet radio is amazin, sound quality from this tuner is better than expected. A GOOD PRODUCT!

The Hama DIT2100MSBT is available in silver of black and has the distinction of being Hama’s only stand-alone audio component. This multifunction tuner handily fills a niche as traditional tuners disappear from the repertoire of mainstream hi-fi manufacturers. As I see it these are the pros and areas for development of this novel audio component - Pros - Quality of construction seems good overall with substantial feet (the cabinet is metal) and comprehensive accessories are supplied such as an indoor telescopic rod aerial, Wifi/Bluetooth antennae, remote (with 2 x AAA batteries) and an RCA connecting lead. - The power supply is internal – the unit is fitted with a 13amp mains plug with a non-captive figure of 8 connector, so no power brick to worry about. - Roughly standard component width at 43cm (30cm deep and 7cm high) – looks attractive. - Intuitive setup with decent menu systems albeit on a smallish screen. - Access to FM, DAB/DAB+, Internet radio, Bluetooth, Amazon Music, Spotify (but only Premium). Internet radio partner is Frontier Nuvola. - Strong DAB reception, here in Sussex it found 61 stations with the supplied rod aerial. - Hama is good with firmware updates and provides regular support over a long period of time. - Choice of connectivity Bluetooth (inbound only), stereo RCA, optical and coaxial digital output, line out & line-in, USB connection for playback of external storage media on front panel, LAN connection, plus wireless connection (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz supported). - Multi-room capability with a variety of brands via UNDOK app which also offers remote control. - The menu system is intuitive and can be navigated quite easily without the remote. - Screen contrast is adequate with a switchable auto dim feature. - Comprehensive remote with 30 presets for each band plus in the case of Internet radio, you can associate the device with the Frontier Nuvola favourites management page. - Headphone socket plus clock and alarm feature and Alexa compatibility. - Sound quality is good with a well-defined stereo soundstage. As a tuner, the performance equals that of other comparable mainstream brands/models I have owned in terms of sensitivity/sound. - The output to your amp can be flat or shaped using the internal EQ feature – this is odd for a hi-fi tuner separate but it works well, you can also control the volume via the tuner’s remote. Areas for development - Quick start guide isn’t particularly detailed or clear but you can download a more detailed manual. - The rotational feel of the knobs is a bit low rent. - USB socket on front panel won't charge most devices – clearly designed to read audio files only. - FM - reception not particularly strong with indoor aerial. - Support for Spotify Premium only and no Napster support. - 2.8" TFT colour screen (320 x 240 pixel) colour screen is adequate but not as big or detailed as some other devices. - Remote labels are small and lack contrast as they’re grey on white and overall the handset is a bit cluttered although, there’s the option of control by the Undok app. Overall comments This is a niche product from a name more associated with photographic equipment than audio system components but it looks reasonably well made and has a lot of handy features. The decent audio output quality will appeal to a more traditional user who doesn't need a network player and wants a more familiar solution to radio listening plus some limited streaming options. Overall, a good quality product at a fair price, I like this piece of kit a lot!
