More robust than OEM
I installed this on a 2012 RAM 3500 with the 6.7L Cummins. This is a more robust part than OEM and uses a metal roller vice plastic on many from the factory. If you have that chirp at startup or stop this is probably the culprit. It bolts right up with no need for modifications to the part or your engine. Unless a freak accident occurred to the tensioner itself and you know your belt is still good, I suggest doing both at the same time. You need an hour, 18" or 24" breaker bar in a 1/2" drive size(this is a must), very small amount of blue loctite(recommended), one beer, preferably a ratcheting 13mm combination wrench, a 13mm socket, a ratchet with at least a 3/8 inch drive(i used a 1/2" drive), and the belt routing diagram for your engine configuration. You DO NOT need to remove the air box, fan shroud, or the fan; you can replace this from the underside of your truck. Remove the tension from the belt by knocking it out of a pulley track, slowly release tension from the tensioner, and then remove the 13mm bolt from the tensioner. The tensioner can be removed from the bottom just by snaking it through some gaps.IF YOU ARE REPLACING THE BELT ALSO>>> Now for the belt, the hardest part is squeezing it through that tight gap betwixt the crankshaft and fan pulley, BE PATIENT, take the belt off of every pulley so it is just you getting intimate with the belt and those two aforementioned pulleys', OR you can just cut it because you're probably replacing it anyways(i don't recommend this in case you were provided with the wrong belt). Check all your pulleys' for wobble/play, make note and replace them then and there if you can. Once the belt is off, take your new belt, I recommend Gates green belt, and put it back through the gap that you just wrestled with or avoided by cutting it; you MUST do this first or you're in a world of hurt. Then start routing the belt around some but not all of the pulleys', as you'll need some slack for bolting the tensioner back on.BEFORE bolting the tensioner back in place route the belt around the tensioner's pulley, failing to do so will cause you a headache you don't want or having to remove the tensioner again to route it because it is easier. Add two or three drops of loctite to the threads furthest from the bolt's head. Ensure you have the locator dowel facing the engine and that you locate the dowel in its guide hole and rotate the tensioner body so you can get the bolt aligned with threads, and hand tighten the bolt to hold it in place until you can get a wrench/ratchet on it and fully tighten to OEM spec. Ensure the belt isn't catching anything, specifically that crankshaft sensor, and that it is in the belt tracks. Apply tension to that newly installed tensioner and route that belt around the last pulley and slowly release pressure on the tensioner. Perform one last Check on your work, this is a zero defect job, because if you did something wrong it is going to cost you money. Start your motor and ensure all your symptoms have been resolved. If so, YOU ARE DONE.

Bolt not included
The instructions stated it came with a new bolt but mine didn't. It was difficult to install but not because it wasn't a good product but because it's just hard to install one in a Ram 2500 Cummins. It is very smooth and has plenty of tension.

4 months on the road everything in order
fitment is right, operation is as it should be. so far 4 months down the road no issues and very little jumping, the old one was having a dance party so it needed to be retired.

great price compared to local parts store for 3rd gen ram with 5.9 cummins
Purchased this for my 2007 ram 5.9 cummins. Perfect fit and much cheaper than local parts store. I've used Gates products for over a decade and compared to other aftermarket parts manufacturers they are pretty good.I switched to Gates because their belt was the only belt that would handle my supercharger without snapping 10 years back on one of my vehicles. Since then I've used their other products without issue. This is a wear part so time will tell how long it lasts compared to other brands, but my ram is extremely low mileage and the original cummins tensioner started causing squeaks. I replaced it with an AC Delco that was available at the time to me and that lasted less than 2 years and 10,000 miles.

Quality made in Canada
Titel says it all. A brand you can trust in. Fits my 04.5 Cummins just fine.Measures are identical to the stock Dayco Tensioner that I took out.Tensioner was replaced because of a weak spring on the stock unit so the belt started to slip over the water pumps pulley which then resulted in higher then normal engine oil temperatures.

Direct fit
Used on 2012 ram 6.7 Cummins. Direct fit, provides lots of tension, bring extra muscle to engage the belt.

Great upgrade over the stock Dayco part
The tensioner is built very well and despite the pictures Amazon uses, my part was made in Canada. I like that the Gates part has no plastic. Great design improvement! My original Dayco part had 171K and although it spun fine there was a minor whistling. That was reason enough to replace it. A perfect match for my Gates HD green drive belt on my2006 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9.

Another automotive part from Amazon.
Worked and a good price. The serpentine belt that was ordered at same time was top notch. Parts from part store was expensive. I checked Amazon found the tensioner cheap enough I ordered the belt and still was cheaper than the parts store. And they delivered on a Sunday before noon. Both fit my Dodge Ram 3500.
