Kikkoman Fried Rice Seasoning Mix, 1-Ounce Pack (Pack of 24)

~BACKGROUND~I love rice of all kinds, but particularly fried rice.~PROS~- No MSG- Easy to use- Great flavor- Can be creative- Make a meal fast- Very affordable (~ 80 cents a packet)~CONS~- Be mindful that 1 full packet contains 1,380mg of sodium (57% DV)~TIPS~- Don't be afraid to get creative!- Directions call for 1 one egg, but I like to use two.- I've used various types of meats and prefer chicken and shrimp.- Soften up veggies of your choice - yellow onion, mushrooms, frozen carrots, peas. Even the frozen stir fry veggie mix.

After preparing it I dished up a bowl to eat it for the first time. I thought it was just OK. I put the rest in the refrigerator where it sat for half a day. When I reheated it for the second meal it was terrific. It needed time for the seasoning to to absorb into the rice. This is as good, or better, as any fried rice I have eaten. It has great versatility because you can add anything you like from meat, seafood and vegetables. I added fresh mushrooms, frozen green peas and onions. I ordered additional rice because fried rice will be on my menu more often. I made the decision to buy based on other quality Kikkoman products and was not disappointed.

When you have piles of cabbage and rice to use up, what do you do? Make fried rice!We really enjoyed these spice packets. They have made making fast and easy suppers so easy! We fry up some bacon, add a bag of cole slaw veggies or a chopped cabbage, have some 10 minute rice going in the other pan, and then toss it together with the spices. Super quick and the whole family really loves it. For the people who like extra spice, buy some oriental hot sauce to pair with it!I highly recommend this for anyone who likes to be able to have things on hand to make quick and easy meals that are healthy and filling too.

Ok so I have great taste buds and when this company changed packaging I Immediately grabbed a few of them and matched them up with the old packaging and noticed right away that they changed the directions and they added smoke to the ingredients further up o the list I wondered..could they have added more smoke flavor? So I made some rice, cooked up some bacon and cut those green onions and set about making two seperate batches of fried rice using new packet and old packet. While I cooked it I jumped on Twitter and stated to kikkoman that I noted the packet change and the smell difference and they got back to e right away !!!!! They said they had not changed the recipe when pushed further on the issue of smoke they informed me they could have added more smoke flavoring and they offered to mail me some free product so yeah of course I want free product ....(50 packets was a bit much but ok). Soooo I set up a blind tasting for my hubs and a few friends I trapped and they each tested one then the other batch and out of the 5 ppl who tasted it they ALL liked the original old packagings flavor with all saying the smell and taste of smoke in the new other batch was overwhelming so there you have it. Next time I will make it with a bacon without Apple smoke in it and see if that doesn’t help counter there changes

Kikkoman Fried Rice Seasoning Mix is the best thing ever. I have tried other brands only to be terribly disappointed. Hard to find at grocer stores so I was elated to be able to buy it at Amazon. GREAT STUFF, must try to appreciate.

This malodge (Chicago spelling) of spices (MOS) is unique in the culinary world for "being arrived at PRIOR to the dish that it was birthed for: Fried Rice! But whatever, it IS quite great. I wouldn't go to the trouble of preparing the meal without a packet of this "pixie-dust", to sprinkle thereon.

At some point Kikkoman changed the product and altered the ingredients used. The flavor is different, which is disappointing, but more importantly for people who pay attention to what is in the food for allergy reasons this can be dangerous. I'm not thrilled with the taste, and annoyed that I had to rework a menu because they delivered a product not as promised.
