Just got these tonight and they stink! Anyone else have this problem?

I bought them too. Why do they stink or are u saying that they stink literally? My only complaint is they are rather small. My plate is just as big as they are. They were not as big (wide) as I expected. I wouldn’t buy them again unless doing something with a much smaller plate, like just tapas or salad lunch.

can you use on a marble?

You can put on practically any surface. It does have holes though they aren't super huge, so whether you like the overall look with the pattern of marble would or color would be your discretion.

Are they Open weave? Is there any protection for your table?

Yes they are open weave and they provide some protection for my table, however liquids and other foods can go through the weaves.

Are they heat resistant?

I'm not exactly sure how heat resistant it is. I've put hotmplates of food and items that have just come out of the microwave.
