It took my young, indoor cat a week or two to lose her suspicion of this new item but now she LOVES it. She used every angle of it for scratching, stretching, playing and sometimes just relaxing in the middle. It has some kind of catnip soaked right in and she rubs her cheek, chin and forehead all over every surface of it. She's even made up new kitteh games to play and taught us the rules. She likes us to put her toys on top and wait for her to stalk them, hunt them and eventually kill them by knocking them down. We humans must "reset the pins" as in bowling. This Scratcher is very well-built and should last a good long time. It's more a piece of furniture! When our cat uses up the two sides that are currently facing up, we can just flip over to the bottom and she has a whole new surface to shred to bits! This is a small business, and I hope the continue to gently expand their product line. I plan to purchase another of their products soon, the curvy one, The PetFusion Ultimate Cat Scratcher Lounge. [Superior Cardboard & Construction]. Beware of cheaper copycats' with 'unverified' reviews My cat is a long kitty, if you know what I mean and so we bought the Large size. When we first saw it out of the box, I thought I'd made a mistake but she REALLY loves the size. She can sink her front claws into the top and do a real seemingly pleasurably lumbar stretch. She'll even move side to side, like she's working her obliques! She loves her new Scratching post and Kitteh-Kat Pilates machine. She also likes to walk through the opening in the middle or toss her toys in the middle. She's going to get a few years out of this for sure. Update august 2022: as a matter of fact, she got several years out of this but so loved her other Loungers that she stopped paying attention to this one. We gave it to a Multi-cat household a couple of years ago and those kitties are giving the thing a serious workout. It's very sturdy. SO far, none of the cats have managed to strip the Triangle scratcher of all its cardboard scratching surface. when we had it, we just rotated the surface every few months so no one side took a beating. In the time we have had this product, we have bought 4 more of the large loungers as gifts for other households with multiple cats and those cats use the long, larger lounger as what I call a "Double-Decker Nap Mo-Sheen" LOL. Those cats enjoy sleeping on it as if it were a bunk bed. One household still has the original 2 I bought and the other households still have their originals too. If there is any downside, and this isn't much of one - it is the fact that you may need to sweep a little more often or use a handheld duster-buster type vacuum every two or 3 days to suck up all the itty bitty pieces of cardboard the cats make from digging their claws deep into the surface. when one side gets a good workout, we flip it over and let the cat have at the other side. Our cat doesn't care to sleep or scratch in the underneath of the big lounger and so we store old newspapers there for a week until recycling time comes around. In the other households with more than one cat, the cats love the underside of the "bunk" for sleeping. So just keep the scratching bits up off the floor and you'll be a happy cat parent cuz it helps prevent them from scratching furniture legs, couches and so forth. Although we don't have to do it very often, we occasionally "recharge" all 3 of these scratcher products by rubbing a little fresh, organic catnip into the surface. It helps keep the cat interested in the scratcher/lounger and we can sometimes rub it in an area she hasn't been paying equal attention to with her claws. This will usually encourage her to have at the unused area with her sharp claws and help dull them. These are wonderful products from a wonderful company. The scratchers are long-lasting pieces of furniture. we only ever had one wear out and we sawed it in half and placed the half pieces elsewhere in the house where our cat found them and loved the easy access to a new scratching surface. She's a tall cat and a long cat, so maybe she just didn't feel like squeezing under there to rip up the interior. we just used a hacksaw and it created a whole new toy for her. we love these things. It makes the perfect gift for a home with a new kitten or a loved one who has a cat who is bored with their current playthings.

I have 4 cats. I have 3 separate living areas in my home. All 3 have chairs and couches whose backs and arms are stringy and shredded. All 4 cats LOVE to shred furniture NO MATTER what method I use to attempt to curb their scratching. Sticky tape on furniture, scented oils, plug ins to soothe a cats needs to mark, even your grandma's flexible clear plastic from the 1970's!!!! Nothing worked even for a day. They either scratched through the plastic or tape, or went underneath and shredded the underside by dragging themselves on their backs using their claws embedded into my furniture's soft underbelly or waited for the scent to become part of their learned environment and went at the furniture again. Then one day while I was in my Crazy Cat Lady chat group,lamenting my distress at how embarrassed I was to have people over anymore, 1 lone voice in the dark suggested these little cardboard nuggets of luscious awesomeness. Pricey? Sticker shock at 1st, but she pointed out you not only rotate all 3 sides BUT you then flip them upside down (cats hit the top to get full effect of the stretch) so they really last a lot longer than you think. I have one in each room at the edge of the furniture (not attractive, I know, but better looking than shreds of fabric and bare wood with batting, i will say) and from the INSTANT I set these out, the cats stopped using the furniture! I kid you not. To prove how long they last, I purchased them in February and it is October and I am just starting to flip them upside down after having rotated all 3 sides. I have had the flat cardboard ones that you pay $6-10 for & last only 2 months so I think this is a bargain. I got up the courage after sampling these for 3 months on ratty cat shred furniture and spent money on Pottery Barn chairs and the cats have YET to touch them. My CCL friend did say to treat with catnip rubbed not sprinkled on every 3 or 4 days for the first 2 or 3 months but I forgot after a week and have probably not added catnip in 3 months now. Prior to this, I was like Pavlov's dog pre-conditioned to a sound...cat claws scratching at something caused me to yell STOP!! From wherever I was in my house and would cause our Labrador (a.k.a. thought police) to go running after offending cat. It has been a learning curve for her as well. She has had to learn kitties have appropriate scratching places. 😍

I've gone through many different cats scratchers over the years, all with their pros and their cons. I chose this one because I was looking for something large, durable, and vertical/triangle-shaped. I'm currently staying in a furnished rental and want to prevent my cats from scratching the furniture. Slid this baby up next to the arm of the couch, and boom - my cats scratch this instead of couch. It doesn't move or tip over like cheaper options, which makes it so much easier for the cats to use. It does start wearing down over some time, which is to be expected. This happened with my cat scratch lounger from PetFusion (which my cats are also OBSESSED with). Depending on the number of cats using it and frequency of use, I've learned that PetFusion scratchers generally lass about 6 months to a year before before becoming rundown and start shedding all over the place. Overall, super happy with my purchase. It's a solid, modern-looking cat scratcher that will get plenty of use. Sure, it's spendy, but definitely a more sturdy and longer-lasting solution than cheaper alternatives. So far, my cats have loved the PetFusion products & I'm super happy with my purchase!

I resisted buying cardboard scratchers for the longest time. It just didn't seem to make sense to pay that much for cardboard but I bought this one a few years ago and am a fan of cardboard scratchers now. All of our cats love this scratcher (3-Sided Vertical Cat Scratching Post | 24”) and the small-ish footprint makes it easy to place practically anywhere around the house. I just bought a second one and now have them flanking a couch. The new one is on the higher traffic side but the old one is still getting scratched up. It's surprisingly sturdy and has more longevity than I expected. The older one has been used for 2.5 years and it's still got some scratching life left in it. The non-scratching side seems to be pressed paper; it's durable but can dent. There was a small dent when I got the first one a few years ago which I didn't mind. The second one was delivered with extra packing material and was dent-free. If you've got limited space or want to give your cats more options, 100% recommend this product.

Squirt is on the thicc side so her old scratch pole would tip over unless she flopped onto the base to hold it down. This scratcher's shape and sturdiness have solved that problem, even when kitty is standing up while scratching (vs. the photo where she's being lazy). The cardboard sides are heavy duty and should last a long time. We've only had this a few days but I haven't heard Squirt scratch the couch since it arrived. It came with some catnip and adhesive rubber feet but we haven't used either; I don't think the rubber feet would provide much traction as they're small. I do think it's a little overpriced for the materials, but it's worth keeping kitty happy and keeping her claws out of the couch arms.

I had a slanted post before with a thick twine rope wrapping - right under the bay window in my living room. It lasted a few years and then the ends of the twine pulled out or tore or something right in the middle of the slant. It looked awful, twine bits fell about when she used the post. Unlike the figure 8 shaped cardboard one she also likes in another room, the slanted one couldn't be turned around or over to a new side - at least not without major deconstruction. So I hunted for a more versatile one and this triangular shaped scratcher looked promising. This cat scratcher has a harder cardboard than the figure-eight one. With perhaps the added benefit of less cardboard debris - will have to wait and see. My cat took to this one right away without even needing the addition of catnip. I put it under the bay window in place of the damaged one. So far it is a winner. 3+ years later: My cat still loves this & uses daily. Every side is very well scratched. I wanted to add that as with all cardboard scratchers I have had, you get bits of debris below it every time the cat uses it. If not cleaned up right away the bits will end up tracked or blown all over the place, especially if u have hard flooring. Easy enough to vacuum, certainly. Just pointing out that if you are at all fastidious, it might be an irritation. Also, both the cardboard and the paper side pieces are looking really ragged and the scratcher looks much less attractive than the brand new one does in photos. Too bad they don't at least offer replacement side pieces. I keep meaning to make my own but haven't gotten around to it. Not sure if I am going to spend $40 for a new one just for human esthetics. Am considering other options. These scratchers certainly have saved my furniture though!!! I still recommend this scratcher for cats that like vertical, non-sisal scratching.

For years the wife and I suffered in silence as our felines disembowled any couch that crossed their path. In vain was the motley assortment of scratching posts and mystical deterrent brews I brought home. At last, I had had enough, and after a night of heavy milk-drinking and copious catnip huffing I found myself face-down in the litter-box of despair. But as my wife scooped the last of my clumped up tears from our cat's indoor outhouse, I decided to give Amazon a try. That's when I found this. Like the all-seeing eye on the back of the dollar bill, I could see that all other products were not only inferior to this, but like mere pyramid building slaves in comparison. I had to have it. And I did have it. And I do have it. And so should you. The cat immediately fell head over dew-claws in love with it. With 3 sides, she can scratch one for breakfast, one for lunch, and one for dinner. Every morning we roll a 3-sided die to see which side she'll start with. Sometimes she'll lay in the middle and close one eye. Oh yeah. We get it. It's crazy powerful. And crazy essential. Now whenever she tries to maul the couch, we just give her a little wink and she remembers...the power, the mystery, the intensity of this all-seeing scratching post. How was this thing made?! Was it UFO's? Was it some sort of alien technology? Was it demons? Perhaps we'll never know. BUT KNOW THIS: this thing works. Seriously. The cat loves it.

This is a great cat scratcher. My 3 cats love it. I have bought it twice before and both times it was about $60, which was a reasonable price. Now I see that it is about 3x that price, which is definitely not worth it. Hence my 3 star review. I would give it 5 stars if it was close to tge old price. I guess I will be hanging on to my old one a little bit longer while I look for something to replace it at a better price.

Note: Updates at the bottom of the review. This cat scratcher is quite attractive and is single-handedly saving the corner of our couch. I wedged it on the corner and the cats are satisfied to scratch it instead of trying to get through the centre hole to the couch. (The moment I remove it, though, the couch instantly recaptures their imagination.) It’s quite an attractive scratcher. I chose the largest model and it allows our cats to stretch out almost completely and then drag their claws down in a very satisfying way. They also enjoy perching on top of it for some reason, even though that can’t possibly be comfortable. I’m glad they are getting a lot of use out of it because I did find it quite expensive. FYI, this scratcher arrived in a gigantic box. I mention it for anyone going to pick it up at a post office. While not extremely heavy, you’ll probably want to grab a cart or trolley if you need to carry it more than a few feet to your vehicle. Update December 2019: We’ve now had this cat scratcher for over a year and it’s easily the best we’ve ever owned. The cats continue to use and abuse it daily, yet it’s holding up incredibly well. If it ever wears out, we’ll definitely purchase another one. Update January 2021: This is the cat scratcher that won’t die. I want to buy the cats a new one from the same brand to change things up in our decor, but I can’t justify it. This one is still in such great shape and they continue to use it regularly!

This is a very attractive scratching post that we don't mind keeping in our living area. We have gone through numerous scratching devices and realized our cat is a picky guy (nothing will beat his love of our carpet), but he will give this a whirl sometimes. Mostly, he really enjoys laying inside of it and playing around it, which is good for us; anything to get a little energy out! It is very sturdy on our hardwood floors.
