Inspiring Publication
Great book. Iโm a long time hobbyist dating back to the sixties and 35 mm days. Really gives great pointers on different types and conditions of photography. The photos are fantastic and inspiring. I really wish they had posted the camera settings on all those photos. It wouldโve really helped.

Great book for anyone interested in bettering their photography skills.
I was so happy to receive this book before the estimated date! Great book, full of useful information for a person looking to take better photographs; it goes over everything from the basics to more advanced techniques. The author is a wonderful photographer! The spiral binding makes it very easy to use.

Helps improve photos
Good book, the only downside is the author goes on a few stream of consciousness rants when providing ideas. Some may like it though. Overall a helpful book.

Worth it !
Just finished reading the book.I am a beginner into the hobby.Anyone starting out in photography would benefit from this book.It starts with the basics and ends with photo editing.Great companion for anyone starting out or wants to learn more.I got the Spiral bound version, and I am glad I did.Would make a nice coffee table book for those into the hobby. In addition, I am taking photography 1,2 &3 at the local community college. This book offers great backup and information on what we are learning in class.

Got it for my sister's 15th birthday
lots of illustrations and great for any level of expertise. My sister doesn't like to read, but she spent hours with this book, looking at the photos and then ended up reading a lot of the text too :)I also enjoy reading it, as an entry level photographer it gets my creativity turned on

Love this book.
i love Joel Sartore. i have his national geographic video series and have followed him for a long time. I have many photography books but this one is my favourite for a beginner photographer. Each lesson is short - no more than 2 pages devoted to each lesson. It's to the point, easy to understand and beautifully illustrated with his photographs. He doesn't over analyze, and the reader isn't bogged down in theories and technical jargon. There are the usual lessons on aperture, ISO, shutter speed etc but it is presented very simply. Lots of great tips throughout the book for the experiential learner. The only downside to this book, is that it isn't digital.

For starters to intermediates!
If you're a beginner in professional photography, invest in this book. Its worth more than any YouTube tutorial. However if you're already a professional, the second half of this book is what you would be needing. Either way its a great book to gain more understanding in photography. National Geographic really did a great job!
