NIce engine...
Nice little engine...decent detail...bought as an addition to my Kato M1 set that I am running on the coffee table by the TV....my little grandson loves it...! Although it's hard to keep his hands off of it... :0)

Great Detail Quiet Operation
The detail is amazing, and it runs so quiet. The slow speed operation is great, no jerking or slowdowns. This is not a toy.

Great locomotive - excellent shipping!
Great litttle “N” gauge locomotive - has been discontinued by Bachman, but I was SO glad to find it at Amazon!

Good value for money.
I'm just getting into N scale, so I decided to get this little prarie type because of the cheaper cost. I wasn't really expecting much with the consideration of the price and because I've heard Bachmann can have a certain reputation with things like this, but I'm actually really impressed with this little unit. I received it a couple days ago and despite the price, and it probably being considered a "toy" since it isn't based off of any real class of locomotives, this thing actually has some pretty nice detail to it. Maybe it's lackluster compared to more serious model but it's hard to complain with the price. It's also a really nice runner, it's quiet and runs at low and high speeds very nice and even has tender pickups. I don't yet have any rolling stock with knuckle couplers yet so I haven't had a chance to pull anything with it yet but I'm sure it would be just fine. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because there really should be a picture of the top of the engine. Where one of the domes is there is a huge screw that protrudes and it really takes away from an otherwise realistic looking locomotive. I'm sure there are pictures of this online elsewhere but it's not really something you would think of ever checking for, especially if buying it on Amazon. Luckily the color of the screw matches the rest of the loco and isn't really noticable when the train is running. The only other thing that bachmann maybe could have done is added more weight to the tender, but after running it in I haven't had too many derailment problems. I would definetly recommend this loco as a gift or if you're just getting started out like me, great value for money. EDIT: When I bought this loco it was about $90, it seems to have jumped up in price by about $30. I don't know if I would pay that price for this locomotive.
