Product Description ------------------- Vought F4U Corsair is a hunting aircraft of the United States Navy. It was manufactured between 1942 and 1952 by Vought-Sikorsky Aircraft. During the World War II, the aircraft was also produced at the Goodyear company under the name FG and in Brewster as F3A. The popular,,Korsarz” entered the service in 1942. However, the design process dates back to 1938. The characteristic shape of the bent wings and the rearward shifted pilot's cabin were the result of numerous modifications during the design and testing of prototypes. The work culminated in a structure with good performance, but difficult to pilot (especially during landing). The aircraft’s characteristic features were:powerful engine, speed, excellent visibility and long retractable landing gear, which was forced by the use of a propeller with a diameter of up to 4.06 m. The weaponry included six 12.7 mm Browning caliber machine s, two 450 kg bombs and eight 127 mm HVAR missiles.Vought F4U were equipped by the US Navy during fights in the Pacific. In Europe, Korsarz in British service took part in attacks on the battleship Tirpitz. The planes were also used in the initial phase of the Korean war.
