A magical, spellbinding read.
A magical, spellbinding read. I devoured this book in one sitting. It was nothing I thought it would be, and everything I love in a 5 star book. Chokshi's writing is absolutely mesmerizing. The writing is my favorite thing about this book, followed closely by the characters. They were so easy to love, and understand. They're flawed, strong, witty characters who learn from mistakes, and in the process discover so much more about who they are individually and together.Gauri is my kind of heroine. She's a feisty, stubborn, doesn't bow down to anyone, kind of character. This Princess will do whatever it takes to protect her people. I greatly admired her courage, her strength, and wit. She is tough, and can take down the best of the best. She's a fighter. She's also someone who knows pain, and heartache. She closely guards her heart and her feelings. I loved the way I got to know her.Gauri's perfect match is Prince Vikram. The Prince she attempts to kill when they first meet. Who, I might add, is also holding her captive. This Prince is no coward, nor does he scare easy. He is witty, intelligent, fun loving, carefree to good degree, and hilarious. It's hard to not love this character. Not to mention the fact he's handsome, but that's be honest, he had me a wit, humor and charming. Like Gauri, I ended up loving Vikram the moment he bested Gauri when she tried to kill him. Where Gauri could most likely physically take down anyone, Vikram can outsmart anyone. Yep, these two are a match made in the stars.I absolutely loved watching Gauri and Vikram go from being enemies to something so much more. Trust me, you'll see what I'm talking about. I loved the romance in this book. It's one of my favorite kind. There are plenty of moments that made me laughing out loud between these two, moments that made me swooning, and moments that made me greatly admire these two characters. They never once tried to change each other, but embraced who they both were. They learned to trust each other, and understood the pain they each hide from everyone else. Talk about character chemistry! Opposites definitely attract in this story! Their bantering is one of my favorite parts of their story.Chokshi's writing is spellbinding. I absolutely loved the way she wrote this story. It was poetic, and hypnotic at times. I found myself marking numerous passages as I read the book, and then re-read them again. They were so beautifully written. I absolutely love book quotes, and this book has a lot of quotes I loved writing down.Rich story telling, vivid imagery, unforgettable characters, and passages that will have you re-reading them over and over again, A Crown of Wishes is a mesmerizing companion to Chokshi's The Star Touched Queen. While I enjoyed Chokshi's debut, I loved this book. This is a book you can definitely read as a companion, or a stand alone. Either way, I recommend picking it up.

I am in love. Complete and total adoration for this magnificent book ...
I am in love. Complete and total adoration for this magnificent book of dreams and wishes!A CROWN OF WISHES completely took me by surprise. I was not expecting to like this book since I hadn't cared for THE STAR-TOUCHED QUEEN, but from the very first line it had reeled me in. Gauri and Vikram were phenomenal characters, and I also loved the handful of chapters from Aasha's POV. I'd love to follow these characters anywhere. The writing was divine. I haven't felt the desire to tab a book in awhile, but you better believe I was tabbing the heck out of this one.Okay, now I decided to structure my review by going through each of my tags/shelves.Firstly, we have "stories about stories." This definitely took me by surprise because I wasn't expecting it at all. I thought this was a story about a game or competition. But the power of stories is a huuuuuge theme of the book, and plays a major role in the story. I adore books that manage to pull this off, because it's hard, and can be cheesy or something we've already seen before, since most of us readers already love stories and recognize their power. But A CROWN OF WISHES manages to bring new and delightful observations that add layers to this already intricate book.Next, "cuddy animals and/or monsters." HELLO BIJU, TRUTH TELLING SNAKE OF MY HEART. omg this one was a surprise. There's also a leopard that deserves serious praise. I just... gah, I love cute animals in books. LOVE LOVELOVE. Oh, and of course the demon horse from STAR-TOUCHED makes an appearance, and I was living for that scene.Demon horse takes me easily to "sisters omg feels." The brief reunion absolutely gutted me. I try to reserve this tag for sister relationships that rely on both parties being on page frequently, but I had to make an exception for A CROWN OF WISHES simply because that scene was so beautiful. P.s. you can read this book without having read the first one. It's a companion book, not a direct sequel.I meeeeaaan "I will go down with this ship" is PRETTY explanatory. Vikram and Gauri were a JOY to ship. From literally their first meeting I was 10000000% here for all of it. They have so many wonderful moments. I loved their development, their sass, their kisses. They make me happy."Friendship love stories" is a hard shelf to get on for me. It's mainly for ships where the friendship between characters plays a major role and sometimes is even stronger than the romance subplots. But I felt like Gauri's arc relied a lot on her friends, and the complicated events that brought them together, drew them apart, and maybe brought them back together again. But Gauri also becomes friends with Aasha, and I loved seeing them come to understand and cherish each other. I loved this aspect of the book, and found it really well done. Which is partially why I'd totally take another Gauri/Vikram book: more chances to see Gauri's friends. (This also falls in line with "side characters ftw" tag :D)A CROWN OF WISHES is a stunner of a book, with gorgeous prose, a lush magical setting that is never what it seems, and characters that will keep you hooked to the page.

Desire and Fear ~ key to immortality - a tale of freedom
Well, this was my first time reading Roshini Chokshi's novel. Though I haven't read it's first part "The Star-touched Queen".But speaking about this book "A Crown of Wishes" - it is surprisingly amazing, -it is magical, mysterious and meaningful ...From the very first page, I found myself immensely immersed within it's pages.I think it's wonderful 😊And I looking forward to explore more of her work.

Breathtaking and wonderful
This is an elegantly written tale, rich with a collection of musings--about life, love, self-belief (and self-doubt)--that will leave its mark upon those who read it. And I encourage all of you to read it.

Excellent Read
Well written, engaging plot, no loose ends at ending. Brightly portrayed and vivid descriptions, especially considering my lack of for knowledge in this folklore.

Just as magical with beautiful description as the first
Absolutely gorgeous writing again as in The Star-Touched Queen with a beautifully compelling story centred around magic. While I prefer TSTQ over this one, it was still captivating to read and a joy to immerse myself into.A Crown of Wishes focuses on Gauri, Maya's sister as she enters a tournament to win a wish with Vikram. It's basically a whole new story and you don't have to have read TSTQ before reading this, though obviously it helps a bit with understanding who some of the characters are and what they've been through.I loved this transition to Gauri and the tournament was a spark of brilliance to give that familiar essence of pure magic like in TSTQ. It was eloquent and enchanting, a lovely story full of the weird and wonderful with delightful twists of magic.
