A steal for the price
This is my first Condor product but won't be my last for sure. Blade is nice and straight, grind is even. The fit of handle to the tang is excellent, no gaps at all and finished very well. Shape of the handle gives plenty of leverage on swings to allow the weight to do the work. Edge was nice and sharp out of the box. I know a parang is supposed to have three areas of the blade for different uses but I ground down about 1.5 inches of the edge closest to the handle then wrapped that area in leather to allow me to "choke up" a bit on my grip for more control when needed, works perfect. Handle is finished pretty well but was a little slick so I wrapped it in some athletic tape. Took it out the day after I got it to my unruly, end of season garden. Brussels sprout stalks can be quite thick and tough but this parang went through like they weren't there. It's really more of a hatchet dressed up like a knife. Too short, thick and heavy for light grasses and such but that's not what it's made for, get a machete for that. Limbing, batoning and splitting should be no problem at all. For me anyway it's a bit large and heavy to hang on a belt but for my uses I wouldn't be anyhow. The sheath is awesome. Thick quality leather with great even stitching, heavy duty. Worth twice what I paid. If you have it in your head that this is some third world produced piece of junk, get over it.

This blade will never fail you it is not possible for what it is get it
All right just to some it up this BEAST is perfect my wife and I we are in Twin city’s Minnesota By the riots that happened because of the death of George Floyd so to be safe I wanted a great knife for self defense when we go to get food and just whatever so I needed a chopper and a slicer in a compact but butch ass blade and for where I live to haha I’m in the woods but no one I mean no one even messed with me or my family when I strapped this beautiful monster on me . it is absolutely beautiful I was looking At the blade in the sun light and it is much more then advertised . It starts off with the hammerd blade that is so nice and rugged and smooth if you know what I mean very smooth to the touch unlike some cheep blades that try to make such a blade . And then in the light you can actually see layers in the blade like true Damascus steal . It’s a thick blade and dives down to a great edge that you can really work with to get razor sharp. it already has a hair shaving edge on the blade . I could not believe it to get that kinda steal for the price of 80$ Don’t even think about it get this beautiful hand crafted chopper that came from heaven and hell . And one other thing keep it lubed with wd40 or some good gun oil it will rust a little if you are out in the woods over night with the condensation with temperature drops.

Outstanding and won't disappoint
I seldom write reviews on products I buy through Amazon, but I am compelled to do so on this product. It is a beautiful piece of work. The blade is solid and came with an excellent edge. The wood handle is attractive and fits perfectly in my hand and the overall balance outstanding .Haven't used it yet but I have no doubt this blade can do some serious damage. Ideal for tight spaces. You simply cannot goo wrong in buying this little beauty. Can't forget the leather sheath. It's thick and sturdy with a fine dark brown finish. If you're on the fence in buying this blade, buy it now, you won't regret it. I guarantee it.. **Well, I've been using this blad for a couple of months and it has exceeded all of me expectations. I can easily whack down small trees with one or two swipes. It's nothing less than awesome. Buy One Now!

This is the best machete on the market
The first thing I noticed when I recieved this fine tool was the excellent craftsmanship that went into it. It is a full tanged blade of a high carbon steel that can be easily sharpened to a keen razor sharpness. This is the best blade I've ever encountered yet, and I've owned several good machetes in my 71 years. The only improvement I could suggest about this machete is to add a hand guard, the handle is constructed of high quality oil finished hardwood that could become slippery from perspiration. The handle shape conforms well to the hand which prevents the tool from sliding backwards out of your hand, however the shape does also invite potential hand slippage towards the blade. Handling such a sharp blade caused me a little concern, so I glued a !/2 inch strip of brown dyed leather to the base of the handle to act as a hand guard. I also added a leather wrist strap through the eye hole to keep it secured to my wrist, while chopping. The blade edge will shave hair after just a little honing on a hard Arkansas stone, and stropped on the sheath a few passes. This is a really finely constructed tool, and a good Machete/meat cleaver.

Great Knife
Before purchasing this item I read a lot of reviews that stated it was dull out of the box. Mine was fairly sharp out of the box and only took a few passes on a sharpening steel to make it hair shaving sharp. I believe that the protective coating they put on the blade makes the blade feel duller than it really is. I also read that it had a very blunt cutting edge and had to be ground down a bit. This was not the case with mine. It is heavy, but it's manageable. Wouldn't want to use it in place of a light machete but could definitely take the place of a small hatchet. I tested it on a treated 4x4 and it definitely performed. However, I did notice one small chip on the edge and a few spots of minor rolling after chopping. But with such a crude chopping tool, I'm not concerned about these small imperfections. The handle is thick but not overly thick for my hands. The handle came very dry and I treated it with some butchers block wax which solved the problem. I also did some minor sanding at the top of the scales near the blade. Not because of comfort but because the edges were so sharp I feared that it would chip very easily. As for the sheath... Not nearly as bad as stated on the Equip 2 Endure review. I've seen much worse. Of course the sheath is not the same quality as Falkniven or Bark River but it's definitely not bad. I was expecting stiff, brittle thin leather with wimpy rivets. The leather is soft and approximately the same thickness as my Bark River Bushcrafter sheath. The snaps snap firmly and the rivets seen sturdy. The knife was a bit difficult to remove from the sheath at first, but once the inside of the sheath got lubricated from oiling the blade, it comes out easily. I haven't had the opportunity to take the knife into the woods yet so I can't really comment on it's overall uses and what it feels like to carry it on a belt, which I rarely do with large knives. I plan on using this knife for fire wood processing, shelter building and ground clearing. It should work well. This is my first Condor product and I just ordered the Bushlore and the Lochnessmuk. I'm impressed with the quality for the price.

The Best!!!
Wow! This parang (machete) is impressive. It looks great and feels very robust. I would easily say it's heirloom quality. It looks like it's 40 years old right out of the box. The blade is very strong and full tang. The handle is wood and feels great. The sheath is just as impressive - brown, thick quality leather and will age nicely. I used this to put in a new trail on my friends property. The trail came out to be about 400 yards long and I used it against baseball bat thick Hickory, Pine, Oak and Holly. Excellent performance for those who know how to properly use a machete to clear brush. I stopped using hatchets years ago because the the heads are too thick and prevent themselves from effective chopping. Highly Recommend. Hand it down to your son when he grows up.

I love it!
Worked like a charm! Showed up sharp and ready to hack away. Cut through 1 inch wood like butter and got through the 2 in stalks quickly! The weight is well balanced and great for putting force behind your swing. It fits well in my hand and the end keeps it from flying out on the swing. The sheath is is thick and sturdy. Overall, it is very easy to use.

Looks great, works ok,
The Village Parang is beautiful. The finish with the wood scales and brass pins is great. But don't look too close. The grind on everything is a little uneven. But that is part of the charm of a hand made product. Where it gets bad is that the blade on mine is slightly bent, and the grind is very uneven from side to side. If you look down the blade, the edge is a bit to the left by the handle, then swings to the right in the middle, then back to the left at the tip. The profile of the edge grind is another issue. In the past there were complaints that the grind was not fine (or shallow) enough. Mine does not have this problem. What is a problem is that a parang is supposed to have a finer edge near the handle and the tip of the blade. The middle portion where more chopping is done should have a more obtuse edge so that it can withstand chopping. Mine was thinnest in the middle. The first time I used it, I rolled the edge badly. I was so distressed! I'd had it for only a few minutes and it was ruined! But after I calmed down, I was able to gently hammer the edge back into shape. Another complaint is over the design itself. Early Village Parangs were not full tang blades. The original parangs from Asia (Malaysia, Borneo, etc.) are rat tail tangs. There are several reasons for this, but not the least is the balance of the tool. With a full tang, and all that weight in the handle, the Village Parang feels odd. I love the way it looks, and the strength of the full tang, but I've used real parangs and they are better balanced. Will I get rid of it? Probably not. Am I sad I got it? Not really, but now that I have it I wish I'd ordered a Ray Mears style parang from Malaysia.

Ottimo Parang!

Well made
I use this for making kindling at home. I set it on the top of the log and tap with rubber mallet. Works great well built and will last. Too heavy for backpacking.

Machete
