I could not even get the initial screen I was supposed to get on plugging the scope into my laptop. The instructions that came with scope were hard to understand written in what I call Chinese English! I visited the company website where 2 models of the scope were identified with 2 model numbers but the scope I received had no model indicators anywhere!? Tried both but to no avail. I emailed the company but they did not respond! There was an offer of a free stand upon request, I requested the stand it never arrived! Is it strong enough to check soil samples?** A: I have not had any experience of studying soil samples, only botanical specimens, but what I can say is, the stand that comes with the "scope" is not stable enough to prevent "shake" when examining specimens. I would it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ It does actually work with Windows 11 *by R***F on 2 June 2023* I ordered the camera on a Thursday and it arrived next day at the time promised. I had purchased a very similar model from Maplin years ago but it wouldn't work with Windows 10 or 11. Hence I was a bit suspicious that this camera would not work with Windows 11 either, but it does. The instructions are basic and not easy to follow but with slow, careful thought I got there after a few minutes. I downloaded the AMCap software from the Cainda web site. The metal stand is too lightweight too hold the camera steady so I ordered a couple of 75 mm x 3 mm steel discs from eBay to glue onto the base. Another problem is that the clamp screw is a bit too long so the clamp cannot be done up tight enough to hold the camera firmly enough to the base. I will need to file off a millimetre or two off the end of the screw to get the clamp to hold tight. I will also try the Jiusion aluminum adjustable camera stand holder I had bought for 19 pounds from Amazon for my previous camera. I hope it fits. It looks as if it will. I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of the image, although they don't quote the number of pixels which is a bit naughty. I assume it's the minimum. Having the micrometer calibration ruler is handy. The 8 LEDs in the camera can gave bad reflections off the shiny surface but they were easily eliminated with the handy brightness control with its on/off switch. The zip case is convenient for keeping all the bits together. I found with even on minimum magnification using it hand held I couldn't keep it steady enough. Also the minimum magnification is too high for looking at skin. So I'm going to buy a 10 -200 X camera. This is more tricky as there are relatively few to choose from and they are much more expensive. Considering the low cost, I am very pleased with it.
