A Great Device for Road Trips
We bought this because we were going to a week long camp (in a college dormitory). We had heard that the one refrigerator in the dorm gets quite crowded and things can "disappear". Taking a conventional cooler was not an option because there was no ice maker on the premises and the nearest town was inconveniently located 10 miles away. This cooler worked great keeping our perishables cool for the 7 hour drive to the camp. We were pleased that the insulation was good enough to keep thing cold even when we stopped for a few hours along the way. (Note: The cooler only works when the car ignition is on; this keeps you from draining your car battery when the car is off). When we arrived at the camp, we switched to AC power. The cooler worked great on AC as well. (Note: The AC/DC converter is not included with the cooler; you must purchase it separately). We were very happy to have this at the camp. It also came in handy when we stayed at smaller motels that did not have a fridge in the room. The only problem we had was that after about 2 weeks of near constant use, it stopped working in the motel. We discovered that the cooler still worked on DC (in the car), so the problem was with the AC/DC converter. We read on line that other have had this problem with the 5.0 amp converter recommended by Amazon. Since we were traveling it was not convenient to get a replacement. We took the advice of another reviewer and bought a 5.5 amp converter at Canadian Tire. Since we got the high amp rated converter, things are working great. Do yourself a favor do not buy the 5.0 amp converter. Buy a 5.5 amp one instead.

Not to be used as a stand up.
Arrived on time. If I didn't need SOME KIND OF COOL, I'd return it. The inside tray can't hold any weight. Now it's bent and doesn't want to go back into the track. Should've been metal. The doors' hinges are rubber with screws. I don't believe that's going to last long. And my door WON'T stay closed since I'm using it as a stand up. The magnetic door closure is a joke. It won't stay cool because the door refuses to stay shut. It was advertised as a stand up as well, so I'm attempting to use it as such. My drinks come tumbling out on a turn or a sudden stop. I keep a case of water directly in front of it to try to prevent the door from opening. I can't attest to the coolness, because I haven't had it a week, and can't use it fully to verify. I'm a truck driver. My ac just went out, and I needed cool. I've got cooler than inside cab temperatures. It's cheaper to keep the cooler than inside cab temperature "cooler", than to drink very hot liquid. I will not purchase this brand or product again, nor will I recommend for stand up use. Probably better suited for lay down use, but I can't confirm. The heat works well. I connected it incorrectly first and put my drinks in for parking overnight. The next morning I open the "cooler" to almost hit to the touch water bottles. If that is what you need it for, then go for it because the heater element is great. I only have 9 water bottles inside in the stand up option because that's all it'll hold. Keep what I've stated in mind. I'm a fair reviewer of products I buy. You've been warned. Maybe mine is defective.

No more ice for us!
Bought this for a 8 hour vacation drive and was not disappointed. We also bought the AC adapter from Koolatron. Cooler works very well. Kept lunch meat and drinks ice like cold for a week. It can be stood on end like a refrigerator as well as used like a regular cooler. I would recommend this to anyone who frequently use coolers or need one for a long road trip. No more wet lunchmeat. There was also a bonus that I was unaware of when I purchased it. The main plug is marked with a red dot on one side and a blue dot on the other. If the blue is lined up with the plug alignment arrow the cooler cools. If you line up the red dot it heats. Great bonus for transporting hot meals. Well worth the purchase.

5,888.5 miles later...
Loved our cooler right from the start. Although we began our trip with a dead battery since we'd plugged it in the night before. We had many miles to travel cross country -Scappoose OR to Atlanta via Nehawka NE and home again. This provided us healthy alternatives to the fast food/truck stop lines. Turkey, avocado & sprouts or PB&J at the rest areas. We were envied to say the least. Unplugged each night and back in each morning, no problems. When we got into the "hot South" it had a hard time staying below the ambient temp when we were in and out of the car too much. Do you folks East of Kearney NE know that we don't have HUMIDITY out West? Don't know how you all do it! As pioneers, they must have just given up, thinking it would never get better than where they were. So sad. Now don't ya'll move West all at once. This country might tilt further left more than it has this past year or so! We purchased the A/C adapter and kept the 'fridge' in our destination hotel perfectly. We were quite the sight moving into the Westin for the week. It was so nice to have a cold drink without the mess of melting ice. Fits nicely on the backseat of the Denali within easy reach of our 6 yr old 'keeper of the treats'. Wouldn't travel far without this again. BTW - I like how it can be a chest or a fridge with the shelf turned. Great feature! Happy travels...

I should have bought one of these years ago.
It does a good job keeping cool things cool. I gave temperature control a 3 because there is no adjustment. Best to power it up several hours before you use it so it can get cooled down. If you put room temperature beverages in a room temperature cooler it will be tomorrow before they are cool enough to enjoy. We used it for a week while traveling with it plugged in the truck while moving and used a 12 volt adapter in the motel room. It worked great using it like this and no ice mess. The plastic shell had a lot of stray pieces of plastic sticking out that needed trimmed off.

Works fine but way too small and smaller that it seems
I bought this for a long trip including camping at Yellowstone as a replacement for your typical coleman cooler which run roughly 50 quarts. Bottom line, it works well but it's too small and smaller than it appears. The effect size is really small on this unit due to the obvious need to leave some space around the interior fan for air movement. I measure the actual effective capacity as 25 quarts. Even allowing for ice in a basic 50Q cooler the 25 quart net capacity is much smaller and much too small. In addition, the top few inches of the cooler will heat up rapidly if you have to leave the cooler unplugged overnight. I found the fan to be very quiet - we didn't have anything touching it obviously. The unit cools extremely well. Any moisture on the bottom of the cooler will freeze if there is air movement. We accidentally plugged the heat/cool plug in upside down and warmed everything up rather rapidly. I used a magic marker when we got home to color the black on black arrow silver to help prevent this mistake in the future and held a second family training session ... We used the following inside ac/dc adapter and were extremely happy with it: Black & Decker / Vector Travel Mate 6.0 Amp AC/DC Converter (purchased on Amazon). I would recommend one of the larger Koolatron units and we will be purchasing a replacement for next time: Koolatron Krusader Cooler - not currently available on amazon but this appears to be the product we should have bought. Koolatron P95 - available on amazon and I didn't buy it because the additional capacity is all in the lid area (it's small lower part with a different lid) but since that's the part that heats up quickly I'd put a piece of cardboard/plastic/Baltic birch as a divider and put something I don't really care about - pop or bread products as a filler on top of it. One final comment on this unit. I found the lid really annoying. It wouldn't stay open readily. I eventually drilled a new hole for the lid strap to give it more scope so it would stay open better and now that we are home again I'm going to move it again so the lid opens even further.

It does take a few hours to cool down room temperature food or drinks
This cooler worked perfectly for us. We have had it for a few months now and have had no problems. We got it to store food for the drive from Alaska to Nevada and still use it once in a while. It does take a few hours to cool down room temperature food or drinks, but I think the manufacturer states that. You also have to remember that it doesn't work when your car is not running, so don't think it will keep things cool over a long night of being off. I was worried it may freeze the contents if left on for a day straight and not having a thermostat, but we never had a problem. Also I liked the size. Its big enough to get several containers and jars of sandwich makings, meat, cheese, snacks and still have room for a 6 or 12 pack of drinks. But its also small enough to not be a huge waste of space in our small SUV. In our Kia Sorento we could cram it between two car seats in the middle row.

Mine didn't work
I liked the "deal" this appeared to be, but it didn't work as expected - not even close! I tried numerous ways over a week to get it to work acceptably and couldn't get it to "cool" even adequately. It was tested in an air conditioned house (always 70 - 80 degrees ambient air temp) and an air conditioned car over a period of 4 full days. Room temp items never cooled down, frozen items (8 x blue ice blocks) melted within a day or two (no better than a regular ice chest would perform), and chilled water bottles warmed up from the temp they were when put in the cooler. I double & triple checked the polarity and it was definitely set to the blue dot for cooling. I even tried reversing polarity (to be sure the cable wasn't mis-labelled) and it didn't seem to warm up either. So, given the positive reviews, I may have just gotten a bad one, but I'm in need for something to work next week and don't have any more time to waste trying another one just like it. The P65 seems to have more than twice the number of reviews and most of them positive (as many 5 star ratings as the P75 had in total), so hoping that slightly different design (top mounted cooling fan & split top lid) will actually work and I can keep it. The idea is great - hoping for the best. I probably would have given the Voyager (P27) a try given all the positive reviews, but it wasn't available for Amazon Prime shipping and I'm in a crunch now where I can't wait for standard shipping to get it to me. The best thing about this purchase is Amazon's SIMPLE return policy!!! It makes it easy to give it a try even when there are a few complaints about an item (you can't please everyone all the time). I just purchased the P65 and it's scheduled to be here in 2 days, so hopefully, I can give a good review on it next week - sure hope so, as I really NEED it to work!

Whats not to like? Keeps cold things cold and hot things hot!
Read lots of reviews for cool boxes I can run from the 12V socket in the back of my car and plug in overnight. This one seemed to have the best reviews and we have now used it over a 1 month period as a cool box for fridge items whilst supporting cyclists going from Lands End to John O Groats. In summary - its been brilliant. I've needed the air conditioning on in the car (to give you an idea of external temperatures) and it kept the chocolate bars hard and cold (and cyclists love a cold Kit Kat). We didn't have any issues with milk going off, or cheese weeping. Overnight, powered by the mains, there was ice sometimes at the bottom of the box - so it does get cold. My car does keep power to the 12V socket for 1 hour after stopping, which meant it was still working whenever we had a break. Other cars don't do this - and I suspect this is why it doesn't work so well for other people. On one training day when it was really cold outside, we turned it to warm, and gave the cyclists, warm sausage rolls and pastries. They loved it! I've used it in both orientations, but the shelf doesn't hold much weight and in the end, we used it like a cool box, rather than a fridge. Worth very penny - its been brilliant for us!

Bon produit

Junk.
Almost lasted a year. Warm setting never worked and there was no way to contact the supplier. 9 months in it was making some funny noises, which I thought was because I used it twice. But now nothing works and zero way to contact them. Spend the extra 29$ and go to canadian tire.

Beyond expectations
OMG WOW! Bought this as an emergency replacement for the fridge on my boat which was faulty and draining my batteries. It wasn't expensive and so i didn't have high expectations for this chiller and boy was I so wrong. It's quite, uses very little power and gets so cold that small drops of ice formed from the condensation. My home fridge is set to 2 degrees and this is just as good as the real thing. Food was kept fresh, beer ice cold I can genuinely say it was worth every penny and more!
