This product was clearly created on some low tolerance machinery with poor quality control somewhere down the production line. I bought an oiled bronzed to replace a bronze handle from a different manufacturer. This product is clearly the lesser of the two quality-wise. The original latch has plastic collars to create a smooth open and close sliding action. This brand does not have that and it opens and closes very roughly. Each time you open and close the lanch you're actually scratching the metal terminal branch. This is what creates the friction that keeps the latch open instead of using the more elegant and non marring solution with plastic collars.The machining lines on all of the parts are clearly visible and it's obvious no measures were taken to smooth out the rough marks.If you're looking for a latch for a door that you use frequently or sees a lot of traffic I would suggest spending 10 more dollars and getting a higher quality latch. I speculate all of these positive reviews are from people who have never seen or used a good dutch door latch before.

This little latch was the perfect size for our Dutch sliding barn door. I was looking for something creative, and a good style to add a pop to our special Dutch door sliding barn door window. This thing was perfect. It is sturdy and the fit was not to small, nor too large. I thought it was a bit pricy but for this particular use it was worth the expense.

Oil rubbed bronze color true to other mfrs. All metal pieces. Alternate latching styles make for a flexible hardware installation. Windows, pocket doors, barn doors, benches, etc are all good places to use these fasteners. Sliding action is not more than 1-1.5 inches, so be aware when installing. Small screws do lose some of the color, and prone to strip. Be careful to gently tighten the matching screws. Slow and careful, Some pre-drilling might be necessary to install the brackets without any flaws.

I really like this product - however it has one major design flaw if using on a door.The standoff distance between the mounting bracket and the latch are too close together. This causes the latch to hit the rubber seal of the door frame. I solved this by adding a block of wood and routing the edges soft (still need to go back and paint the block). If you dont have this skilset, then you are in a bit of a pickle.With this quick fix however, we love this latch!

Works for a quick security install. I did for the little kids to lock them in the attic... I mean to keep people out.They could get five stars with a plastic template for installation ease...

very nice unit, simple and works well on the cedar gate.was alittle stiff at first but smoothed out. if the second element is not aligned 100% then it will bind slightly but not a huge issue.suggest careful pilot holes for screws might help.I used alittle lithium grease and its much better.last issue- its very secure with the bolt plate

We used this sliding lock on 8’ French style entry doors that separate at the top in high wind. Inexpensive way to hold the doors closed in high winds, especially as an alternative to replacing wooden doors.
