CadetMANUFACTURING CO 08121 White Single Pole Thermostat

Right out of the box this thermostat is clearly a higher quality than what I’m finding at the box store. Have tried two of the Honeywell home thermostats that look similar, but need calibrated and do not maintain calibration. Not sure why I was able to buy the cadet heater at the box store, but Honeywell was the only option there, so happy to have this thermostat and the proper functionality.

The thermostat itself is fine for regular room heating, but is not a "low temp" thermostat as pictured. Lowest setting attainable is 50 F . Great for a regular room, but not useful in a cold room that you want to keep just above freezing. I hope Amazon corrects the photo.

You have to make sure what type of wiring you need for your heater. I only needed the single pole (black hot wire interrupt) only. Some people will need double pole or other wiring.It was real easy to install. You have to turn off the circuit breaker to the heater at your panel first. Then remove the old one. There will be two black wires or may be a black and a red that go to the back of the old thermostat. Then use the enclosed wire nuts to connect to the pigtails coming out of the thermostat.You do have to put the wire to the heater to a specific thermostat wire.I found it very accurate, or at least as accurate as the digital thermostat just a few feet away. It is quiet. Someone else said that it does not have an "Off" setting. The knob does go way past the lowest degree mark on the thermostat. I would have to get it down to below 50 degrees to test that but I am okay not doing that as I don't expect it to ever get that cold. And if I do I will turn it off at the circuit breaker before leaving for too longer.I wish it came in an ivory color but bright white is what you get. I would recommend it if it fits your wiring needs. IF YOU DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE DOING THE WIRING GET A LICENSED ELECTRICIAN OR AT LEAST A FRIEND WHO KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING. THE VOLTAGE CAN KILL YOU OR START A FIRE.But it's easy if you know what you are doing.

This is not the thermostat that is shown. You will receive T521-W which is also available at a cheaper price. I ordered this one because it was compatible but did not receive it.

Have to set the temperature to 80 on the dial to achieve a Temperature of 72. The thermostat is mounted right above one of the baseboard heaters too.

You can visually compare these to Honeywell thermostats and they just look better built. Also, they are vented on all 4 sides unlike Honeywell and that makes for more accurate settings. I believe these are made in Canada and the Honeywells are from China or in Asia somewhere. When it comes to the double pole 4 wire units, things change a bit. They don't obviously interchange with Honeywell. I blew up one when I tried to wire it the way I thought the Honeywell was wired. However, Cadet has a great tech department and a guy named Jeff helped me a great deal. Once wired right, it has been very accurate and has worked well since I installed it in December. I will use Cadets from now on.

I love the way this looks and it is more updated than our old beige one.

Not knowing much about wiring, this item confused me. I thought I was getting a model #08121, instead I got a T521-W. While the item does work for my 120v wall heater, a little clarification in the description would be nice or if a substitute is just as good let the customer know. The price is high compared to a similar Honeywell thermostat. All in all, ok.
