Honda VT1100 Series 1995-2007 (CLYMER MOTORCYCLE REPAIR)

I wanted to buy a repair manual for my 2004 Honda Shadow Spirit VT1100C. Quickly discovered that there aren't too many choices. The Clymer manual has a good amount of information for routine maintenance, adjustments, troubleshooting and repair. Many of the engine repairs are too complex and involved for the average person who doesn't have the proper tools or level of experience. But I didn't buy the manual to do major engine repair... I just wanted a good manual to provide me with the big picture look at my bike with enough information that I could do my own adjustments and routine maintenance.The photos and schematic drawings are good and plentiful. The colored wiring diagram could come in very handy one day as well.If you don't have any sort of manual for your bike, this is a good start and may be all you need. The only other choices I'm aware of are the Honda Service Manual 1997-2007 and the Haynes Repair Manual for 1985 thru 2007 which gets some complaints about being inaccurate for some things so I just went with the Clymer. Happy so far.

I got this manual to work on my 2005 Honda Shadow Spirit. It works for what I needed, which was to repair my front disc brake. Rebuilt the caliper and replaced the pads myself, which saved me the $200-ish the local shop wanted and took about 4 hours (including the time it took to find where my son had left my sockets) to do the job. I am retired, so I could take my time, as it was raining any way. :).I've used both these since about 1964 and the brand starting with H. The Clymer is by far the better book, IMHO. If you do any work on your own bike, this manual is a very good aid and will save you a lot of money.

Clymer outlines most everything needed to get your vehicle moving again. I'm limited in my auto knowledge, mostly as a product of being raised in NYC and not having the need for an auto until I was 26, but this manual got me through my RR issues with my bike (I tested a lot of wires, switches, and relays as well). Needless to say, the only thing that prevents me from giving this 5 stars is the indexing, which at times makes it difficult for me to then locate the section I need to read.

Only time will tell how helpful this manual will be but I was glad to get it. I was brand new and arrived promptly so that's all I expected. If it saves me $30 on maintenance I do not have to pay someone else to do then It was worth the cost.

The ONLY repair manual for most cars and motorcycles. It's hard to come up with a repair, service or repair procedure that is not covered in this book. The colored wiring diagrams (the only colored pages in the book) are especially helpful. Highly recommended and well worth the price.

As far as what you need to be able to do 80% of any work on your bike. I am impressed with the knowledge and overall set up of these manuals. Coming from someone who has used various service manuals as a mechanic in multi-line dealerships and powersports.This is far more than your average backyard mechanic should be allowed to do. But, if you have the mechanical know how then you should be okay. Good manual overall, and enjoying it so far.

I bought a second hand Shadow Spirit a year ago and I like to make repairs by myself but I needed a guide since my last bike was a Vulcan 500. This manual is very complete and have many pictures to guide you I definitely recommend it for people who have some experience but have a new different motorcycle

My copy of the Clymer Honda VT1100 Series 1995-2007 Motorcycle Repair Manual is a must-have for owners of this series of Honda street/touring machines. I'm not "naturally" a mechanic, but this volume makes things sufficiently clear and understandable for even me to find success at maintenance and even moderately sophisticated repair issues. It's also very well-organized and exhibits great presentation. I can find what I need quickly and understand the instructions clearly.

I've used Haynes manuals a lot for all of my repairs and I was worried at first because I wasn't aware of the Clymer name. Once I received the book, I was not worried anymore. This thing is awesome - same (if not better) quality as Haynes as it has nicer paper pages (Haynes has gone to 'newsprint' paper in most of its books now) and this one has coloured wiring diagrams, while not essential, is nice. I'd recommend this to anyone.

Clymer manuals are well written with good pictures allowing even the beginner mechanic to save hundreds or more on repairs and maintenance. I would never own any vehicle without getting the corresponding Clymer manual.
