Carefree R001576 Awning Gas Spring Mounting Kit

These pins are meant to be flared!!There is no clips to put on these. If you have a carefree awning just look at what’s there and you’ll understand. It works sort of like a rivet.How to flare them properly? I have no idea. I modified a large C clamp and made it work. I’m sure there’s a tool that does this but I don’t know of it.Other than that they’re a perfect replacement.Measure to make sure you’re ordering the right stuff though.

Please note the picture is wrong you will never get two tiny washers and you would never need them just get a tool with a rolled end slightly bigger than the pin and a hammer smash the open end it will spread out become flat a once snug you’re done! I had to do my homework hope this helps

While the kit provides shims for the the new gas struts to accept the smaller attachment pin, the smaller attachment pin is to small for my RV arm. Also doesn't come with push nuts if could use. Disposed of the kit and reused the old pin. The original pins fit the gas strut and RV arm perfect. In my case this kit was not needed.

if you are simply wanting to replace a gas spring/shock/strut you do not need to remove the original pins/spacers/clevises from your awing. The old gas spring likely just unscrews from the clevises in the awning arm. Then remove the clevises from the new gas spring and screw the gas spring in place on the arm. 15 minute project, and completely unnecessary to mess with these parts. Search for YouTube videos.

Make sure you get what you need. I ordered these and they were the wrong size. I had to file and grid to make these fit. but they do work now.

I had to replace my gas shocks on my camper with longer ones. (Used to push out the awning) To take the old ones out, you have to drill out the old pins. So you need these new pin kits. They worked great, you need a kit for each shock. The kit comes with new plastic bushings also.

Pas facile à installer, aucun papier pour l'installation, comment fermer le tout pour éviter que la pièce sorte.

Right part. Missing 2 fasteners. Disappointed.
