I found out by troubleshooting this product before I contacted the manufacturer and what I did was I kept looking at each of the balls that I took out at the end of 30 days throwing them away seeing a gray material and a white pellet product inside and I kept thinking that something had to dissipate or disappear as it was reducing the active ingredient inside so I did a test on my own and went from 30 days to 45 days and the product which is the white pellet had reduce just a little bit so I went back to using it for 30 days and then I got time to email the manufacturer and ask them about the active ingredient which it was if it was the white pellet or the gray material and if you could keep using that ball depending upon which one was still showing at the end of 30 days because my small Honeywell humidifier that I bought through Amazon has like a 2 gallon tank I think on it and that white pellet was always showing and they said yes you can use it longer if that white pallet is still showing and has not completely dissipated, so their information is not quite correct about having to throw it at 30 days and putting a new ball in because like I asked them I don't go through that much product and I with spanking there must be a gallon usage our consumption per month but they don't show that data either So you can save yourself some money if you wait until you see no white pellets within that product which would be the ball or fish depending upon what product you buy from them.Also something that I did to help clean up the water is I got a small water filter system that does water softening and I use that product in there and it seems to help extend the life of this product also and on another note which I'm going to do a review on it helps for the Honeywell or whoever's filters that fit the system and I've only use the Honeywell but using soft water really keeps the calcium deposits down on that filter but it does help extend the life of the pellet product inside these the ball or fish.

I bought a Honeywell humidifier a couple weeks ago. I originally ordered these with it but the same day they went out of stock. Anyway, I thought I wouldn’t be able to tell whether or not they were working but I’m kind of glad that they were delayed. My humidifier and filter were both brand new. But we have very hard water. The first time I cleaned the filter it had iron deposits all over it and was this rusty red color. I washed the filter in hot water with baking soda which got all of the stains off. Even though I kept my humidifier clean and sanitized there was still this heavy sort of musty smell, even from day 1.I went ahead and ordered these and thought “what could it hurt?” They arrived yesterday and there is no longer and heavy musty feel to the air. I really didn’t think these would make a difference in the water quality but I can feel an actual difference and I will order these every time I run out. I can’t say if they will help clean the humidifier (from getting mold) because I will still hand wash my hunidifer but it is doing it’s job of keeping the water clean.
