Good as ever

Collects Ms. Marvel (2015) # 7-127 - Kamala and Miles Morales are in competing schools in a high school science fair. Baboom happens, so Ms. Marvel, Spider-Man, and Nova deal with the situation.8-11 - Civil War II crossover - Captain Marvel gives Ms. Marvel a job to do for the Captain's Minority-Report-style pre-crime-fighting: she puts her in charge of her own pre-crime task force. At first, she's overjoyed to be helping her idol, but then she starts seeing the results. Her path is parallel to Peter Parker's in the first Civil War.12 - Kamala spends an issue in Pakistan to re-think her life. You don't have to read Civil War II to understand what's going on in this book (my favorite type of crossover!) In my opinion, you should start reading Ms. Marvel from the beginning, though Ms. Marvel Volume 1: No Normal (Ms. Marvel Graphic Novels)-Do trade paperbacks have variant covers? Mine is a modified version of this:Ms Marvel #9 Comic BookNot this: Ms Marvel #7 Volume 4 Cover ASometimes an event can temporarily derail a series, but I think G.W. Wilson did a good job of incorporating the event into the story she was already telling. As noted by another reviewer, Kamala doesn't interact with Spider-Man and Nova in the actual Civil War II story, at least not in this book

I love Ms Marvel...

For the character study, it's almost secondary to the plots. Kuala Khan is a 15 year old American who discovers, via mist, that she is an inhuman, and has powers to shrink or enlarge herself and parts of her body, which she calls "embiggen". Cute, and very age appropriate. So she must figure out her place, like all good teen wagers, plus her powers, and her culture. You see, her family is Pakistani, and she is Muslim, so there are some fascinating variables. And she lives in the super hero hot spot of....... Jersey City.I find the plots very realistic, relationships with friends and family, mentors, all messy at times and evolving. The character is not only one you could meet in real life, but one you would want to meet. I mean, how can you not like a girl who gets kerfufffled by a philosophy class where you talk about the greater good, sacrificing one to save many. Or this issue, where a squad is formed to combat predictive crime, stopping criminals before the crime happens. But can we really detain people before they actually become a criminal? Is it profiling in a way? Hmmm, might have some current pertinence......

Good Tie-in to Not Good Event

I wasn't keen on Civil War II for a number of reasons, but I was looking forward to seeing how this crossover tie-in went because of Ms. Marvel's relationship with Captain Marvel. I was only slightly disappointed. I got most of what I wanted out of it, but something felt off. Hard to really say what without spoilers. I guess it comes down to it feeling incongruous with the previous volume with so much of that hinging one Kamala learning to prioritize and say no and then this one depending on Kamala kind of being a doormat for not just Captain Marvel but even to the cadets she's supposedly in charge of.

A good Civil War II story

I was putting off reading this because I heard bad things about Civil War II, but this book was a good progression in Kamala's story and her relationships. I loved the bookend story of her visiting family in KarachiI can accept captain marvel making the authoritatian choices she did, but I was relieved to see Kamala stand up to her hero and do what was right.

Ms. Marvel Rides Again

Choices and changes dominate this outing for Ms. Marvel. She makes some hard choices and then has to grapple with the results, and things will never be the same for her.

1 as a library book club read and loved it so much she kept going

My daughter started reading vol.1 as a library book club read and loved it so much she kept going. She enjoys the characters, plot, and constant additions.

Another hit

Another awesome volume of the new Ms Marvel. Makes more sense if you read the Civil War II storyline but still okay if you didnt.

Another great volume, with some cool philosophy

I love the Ms Marvel Series so far, and this one is another hit. It follows on from civil war II (I haven't read this, but have read about it), and Kamala training with the avengers. Basically she teams up with her Fave SuperHero Captain Marvel, and is doing some pre-emptive justice with using the ability of a psychic Inhuman. This leads to some issues, and discusses profiling, and who is best in a community to deliver justice. Towards the end, this gets pretty hard hitting and really makes you think.Throughout it keeps the cool art styles of previous issues, and Kamala's strong sense of community responsibility, and millennial comedy

Waste of money

I only bought this because it was tied into the Civil War II crossover storyline. I like to have the complete story, so even though this character sucks I bought it. Wish I hadn't wasted the money just to have it, because it sucks. I like that Marvel is trying to create new characters, and add some diversity to their line-up of heroes and villains. In this case, big time failure.

A rising star in the Marvel canon

I absolutely loved this comic book - Kamala Khan stands up to her hero, a very hard thing to do and does what she feels it right, showing why this character is so popular and loved and how she has cemented herself as an iconic Marvel character! She is tried and tested and loses important things to her because of the war she is caught in the middle of. I won't say anymore - read it, and see for yourself...

Ms Marvel embiggens once more.

Great to see this wonderful character hitting her stride again after straying from her small neighbourhood origins in recent adventures. Ms Marvel works best for me in a smaller arena with her friends and family around her.
