Does it come with a heater? Or it has to be purchased seperately?
How much clearance do you need to get to the back for maintenance? Can you put this against a wall?
What heater should i use on this tank ?
Does it have a protein skimmer? Is there a good alternative to a protein skimmer?

Really nice tank.

The media could not be loaded. I really love this tank and yes a few MODS made it a bit better and easier to care for in the long rung. In honesty most people will MOD their tanks its just part of the hobby. As a stock tank I think it will work fine too for most people. The lighting system is what you mainly paying for it and a nice tank overall its a good deal. I attached a video matter of fact my Computer is louder then the tank in the video. It was bit cloudy when setting it up but clear up overnight which is 100% normal. Please clean you glass before with maybe a damp sponge before adding anything, I forgot too, I have since cleaned it but would have been easier without the stuff in the tank. Remember no chemicals cleaners on the inside of the glass ever empty or not.MODS are In-Tank media basket and 9001 Tunze skimmer still working on the Tunze. Mustangarrett seemed to have bashed this tank for being as loud as a dirt devil as you can tell in the video it is not. Shipping was done good but would have liked them on the outside box to place fragile or glass on it. It was unmarked, luckily it arrived undamaged. I did have a slight rubbing sound coming from the fan on the 1st night but I accidentally slammed the lid and the sound went away and yes the fan still works. That is a bonus on durability. The discharge hose from the pump was 2 inches too short. I had to float the pump up to connect the discharge tube to the outlet nozzle. Wrote the seller about that issue and they resolved it. Great customer service. I have it placed over my desk on top of the file cabinet, I would normally not suggest a full tank on a desk but seems to be working good I did a standing/ bouncing test on my desk before attempting this. All in all very happy camper after 3 weeks of research I do not regret my 1st saltwater tank purchase at all.

Fantastic Tank!

Wanted to stat up a new reef tank that was easy to take care of. I would suggest getting a circulation pump if you are adding a lot of rock like me. Tank cycled within 3 weeks. Easy to setup and get going. Glad I decided on this model. Just perfect for what I wanted. I have 15lbs of rock and 15lbs of sand. With probably add another 5lbs of sand next week. That will give me about a 1” depth. Hopes this helps out on what you need.

Excellent mini-reef aquarium, only one nit.

I've had this about a week, and am in the process of getting it cycled. This is a high quality, quiet tank. The built-in LED lights are bright. The three independent, programmable lighting channels are very nice. (Daylight, Sunset/Sunrise, Blue so-called moonlight). This comes with a 3-level media shelf already. The only thing that is somewhat annoying is that the filter media shelf is a tight fit. It should be easier to take it out or put it back in. Overall, this is an excellent tank.If you are wondering if you should save some money and buy the first generation bio-cube DON'T. I bought the 29 gallon gen I biocube. This has flourescent 10k and actinic lighting. It also has TWO LOUD cooling fans. The fact is has two fans is important here. These spin and similar BUT NOT IDENTICAL speeds. So, you get the thrumming out-of-sync noise added on top of the fan's normal noise. If this is in a living room (or similar) fine. Not so great in a bedroom.

Decent Starter System

I've had my BioCube 32 up and running now for four months. In that time, I have already outgrown it. That said, it's a great way to get your feet wet if you've never kept saltwater fish.Pros: Automatic Lighting. The sunrise, sunset, and different channels are pretty nifty for the money. They don't have the PAR and spectrum to grow SPS, though I suppose if you ran all 3 light channels together for 8-10 hours a day, and put the SPS at the top, center you could keep it alive. All my LPS and soft corals do very well in it, though. I do recommend getting their A/B daily additive to supplement the tank. I do 8 ml each on a daily basis and everything is growing like crazy. It is also a compact, attractive unit, especially paired with the stand. Small footprint, and the all-in-one design means you don't need to hassle with a sump.Cons: WAY too little space in the back chambers. Makes it difficult to perform routine maintenance, especially if (like me) you install the UV sterilizer and protein skimmer. Every. Single. Time. the little sponge between chambers 2/3 clogs with algae, which is often, I can barely get my hand down to pull it up because of the UV on the return pump line. Inevitably, I knock the UV off the return nozzle, or pull it apart from the water hose, and it's horrible to try to re-attach. If you have the skimmer in chamber 1, it often spews microbubbles into the display. Argh.Stock media rack is flimsy and bags of media get stuck in the chamber when you try to remove it. After a while, most people who are into their aquariums exchange the stock rack for an InTank brand media basket. I've done so, and it's WAY better to deal with. Wish I had started out by spending the dough and getting the InTank media basket and Tunze 9001 skimmer instead of the BioCube brand. May still just chunk the BioCube brand skimmer and go that route.Water changes: because of its small volume, you absolutely must stay on top of weekly water changes to avoid nutrient buildup and the problems it causes. That's true of any tank, but especially in a tank this small. I also installed a small auto topoff to combat evaporation. Can't imagine running a tank this size without one.Lid: I'm not sure why they don't put a piston support up under this thing so you can open the lid halfway and it stays up. I end up propping mine halfway with a kitchen utensil. If you open the lid all the way, the lights glare into your face and the tank is dark when you're doing maintenance.Lastly, for the money I spent buying this new, I wish I had gotten a larger used tank to start with off Marketplace and just got a bigger tank to begin with. If you really enjoy the hobby, you'll outgrow it in less than a year. The market value of a used one of these is about $200, even with the stand. I got a 210 gallon system with all the equipment I could ever need for less than a thousand dollars. No need to get that crazy, but I recommend a 75 gallon or more to start with. Then you would have room for while.P.S. Do NOT put a tang in your BioCube unless you have a larger system to transfer it to when it grows. My tang will go into the 210 eventually.
