Ditch the dummy is a modification of a regular pacifier, where at time of manufacture a hole is placed in the nipple rendering the pacifier unsatisfying for the child. This is a proven technique for pacifier weaning. Ditch the dummy is the only one step pacifier weaning method available on the market today. Weaning your child off his or her pacifier can be a daunting task. We know, we’ve been through it! for decades, parents have poked holes or snipped the end of their child’s pacifier for weaning purposes however, this “do it yourself” technique can be harmful to the child. By compromising the integrity of the nipple, bits can break off and create a choking hazard or slivers of silicon can become in-bedded in the child’s gums. We came up with a simple pacifier with a manufactured hole, still works the same but totally safe.

Great buy
Bought this for my almost 3 yr old. We took away all binkies and only gave her this. She was not happy of course but within 3 days she stopped using it during the day and only for night. We’re on day 6 and she barley touches it. She was so attached to her binkie I didn’t think this would work but was willing to try. Just give it time and remove all other binkies it does work! She also has an 8 month old brother who uses a binkie and doesn’t try to sneak his either!

Worked for my paci-loving daughter!!
My 2year old daughter LOVES her pacis. She throws a fit if she doesn’t have it at night and wakes up through the night looking for it if it falls out of her mouth. So the day that I was skeptical about this is an understatement... but I figured why not try it?First night: Gave her this fake paci as I was holding her for bedtime. She put it in her mouth and sucked for a bit. I could hear the air coming through it! She pulled the paci out of her mouth and just held it in the her and hand asleep. Didn’t even whine!!! Throughout the night she woke up once or twice looking for it, put the paci in her mouth then just took it out and held it.Second night (last night): asked for her paci and I have her this fakie. She didn’t even try to put it in her mouth. She just held it and fell asleep! Is this too good to be true?? We’ll see how the third night goes!I was terrified about weaning her from her pacifier... this was THE answer!

Might work for you
My daughter has used this for two months and isn't weening off it yet, at first she hated it because it wouldn't stay in, now she just bites down to keep it in.

Awesome!
This gets 5 stars anyway because it’s exactly as advertised, but also it was my first night using it with my two toddlers and they slept great! My oldest is very obsessed with his Passie and will wake up crying and get me if he can’t find it at night. This was perfect because taking the pacifier away cold turkey makes my boys think they’re being punished. This way they still have what they want technically. Also all we usually bought were the advent pacifiers and we’ve tried poking holes in those but then my oldest learned he could stick his finger in and still suck that way. This pacifier totally takes out that option. No way to plug up the hole so they’re forced to just deal.Since they can’t maintain suction, it also falls out of their mouth the second they stop actively sucking, so it’s not sitting in their mouths all night.

Didn’t work for us
I was really hoping this would get my 3 year old off her paci. I bought this for her just before her birthday and while she noticed the hole, it hasn’t deterred her from wanting to use it.In the last couple months we have weaned her off the paci during the day, but she still wants one at night. We threw all our others away, and she takes this one just like she took her old ones.Pretty disappointed this didn’t work for us.

100% worked for us and fast
We have been having a horrible time trying to get my 2.5 year old daughter to give the pacifier up at nap and bed time. The first night she asked for her pacifier and I gave her this instead. She put it in her mouth, took it right back out, she set it aside and that was it. I was in shock, it’s been 3 days and she has not even mention her pacifier. Like it never existed at all. I really didn’t think it would work this fast. I don’t know what kind of magic spell this thing is under but it absolutely worked for us. Now if only there was some magical product I can buy to get her to use the potty?

It worked Great product
This weaning pacifier did what it says it does. My 19 month old little girl and my sisters 2 1/2 yr old little boy are now binky free and both after just a few days. The trick is to make sure you remove ALL regular binkys' from the house first, so if they want a binky, then this is what they get, and they will want it! I think this was the problem with the disgruntled lady with the twins. You do have to be firm. Its such a relief to have this hurdle out of the way! I highly recommend this product to all parents.

Be careful
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Concept is great but if your toddler has teeth, be careful. My kiddo started chewing because she couldn't suck like she would a regular binky and she began to chew through it. It also stated falling apart within 2 weeks so I guess it depends on how much your kid uses it. My daughter only gets her to sleep. Didn't work for us. I bought two and one of them fell apart after 1 use.
