Classico Medium Roast Whole Beans Coffee 8.8oz/250g

It does not make much sense to me to review a well renowned brand/product, especially when it come down to personal taste and preference. Anyway, for those new to, or making first steps in, the espresso world, Illy is one of the world's (and Italy's) leaders in the "popular premium" segment, with Classico as their flagship. Being myself European and die hard espresso drinker, this is clearly one of my favorites and most frequent choice. I do experiment every now and then (mostly regretting it afterwards), but always return to the good old Illy Classico sooner rather than later. It is just the benchmark for what balanced espresso should taste like (given properly papered - I personally use full automatic machine hence the beans).I have occasionally received some dinged cans, which is not a big deal to me, as long as it remains vacuum sealed. Never had a quality fail.Again, espresso is all about personal taste and preference, but I have never heard of a serious espresso drinker who has not at least tried Illy Classico.

Delicious! Smooth taste, not too bitter when brewed in espresso machine. Haven't tried yet in a moka pot, but since they're not to be tamped down it should yield comparable taste.Packed and expiration dates are stamped on the bottom of the vacuum-sealed metal canister. This one was packed 18 months ago (!), but the beans smelled good and still tasted fresh once ground.

Damaged can and expired coffee beans - order placed 04/2025 -This coffee can was manufactured on 06/12/2022 and has a best-before date of 12/2024. Why is Illy shipping expired products? This could pose a serious health risk! 😵

I grew up in Trieste, Italy, which is where Illy’s headquarters are, and when I was in elementary school they actually served us cafe au lait using Illy coffee so I have a natural affinity for the taste. I still love it - It’s full-bodied without being bitter, and doesn’t have the “sour” taste of some other roasts. A bit pricey but worth it in my opinion. I have tried it with both pour-over and Aeropress, both are great methods to extract the best flavor.

We grind the beans and use them in an espresso maker. The coffee tastes good and has a chocolate flavor which is nice but not overwhelming. I have bought these multiple times.

The product is fine, but the cans arrived dented and with a sticky glue residue. Improve your packaging line.
