Cottage Oak 42" Round Pedestal Dining Table by Home Styles

I purchased this table assuming that it would look like the one pictured. The description doesn't say what type of wood it is, but it does say "solid wood." In the picture it appears to be parawood with a butcher block style top. The table that I received had a solid wood base, but the table top looked nothing like the one in the picture. There was plywood on the underside of the table and the top was a solid piece of veneer with a much lighter colored plastic edge. I returned the table because it looked very cheap and nothing like the picture.

i disliked he fact that I did not receive the item shown in your advertised picture. Your advertised photo is a dark oak with shiny surface. The table I received is a a faded brown/red color with dull surface.I respectfully request that the item I received be replaced with the item you advertised in the picture. Thank you.

The color did not look anything like the picture. The picture in the ad looked like a nice country oak table. The table we received resembled a light maple finish. The only nice thing we noticed that the table was well packed and seemed to be good quality. It was not what we wanted, so we returned it.

We wanted a card playing table without spending $600+. This is perfect! Sturdy, pretty, 42 inch round great for 4 card/game players. Arrived Fed Ex pedestal and legs in 1 box and table top in the other. Me, the 70 yr-old babe could put most of this together, and did. Just need my 'elderly' husband to help lift table out after all the nuts and screws were in. The MOST time consuming feature was taking out all the staples on underside of table re:shipment packing. Need pliers and screw driver and about 30 minutes. Grab fav libation, get on the floor and enjoy. Love the table.

I was going to build a small conference table for my office but for $160 I decided to buy this one instead. Was glad I did. The table top is made of fine grained hardwood (not veneer as many are) with a matching base. It came in 2 packages. Assembly took about 1 hour, at least a half hour of which was spent removing the staples securing the legs to the bottom of the table. I guess they didn't want them to come loose during shipping. Other than that the rest was easy. The table has a matte finish, uniform color, and fine, tight wood grain. It is definitely not made of oak but resembles maple or rubber wood. It is fairly substantial and very sturdy. I would recommend it if you want a decent table at a fair price, and don't expect it to be real oak.

I love this table (and the entire set) It's heavy and sturdy- which is just what I was looking for as a mother of 4! I've had it over a month and despite the little boys (one is a toddler!) doing what they do, it doesn't have so much as a ding on it! It had some little area where the seam of the wood didn't get finished- but it was no biggie. OH! And it was so easy to put together I was able to do it 7.5 months pregnant! I saw on other reviews there were issues with the staples when they received it- I really didn't have a problem *shrug* Everyone at the baby shower was impressed at the quality of this table.I will mention this: the only con- I have wood floors so it wasn't COMPLETELY level (but neither is our floor, so who knows which is the culprit) Either way- would be easily solved if it ever bothers us enough to fix it. So far it's so slight we don't care.So... AWESOME TABLE GUYS!!!!

This is a nice looking table but the quality control at Home Styles is terrible. The table comes in 2 boxes. The piece with the top and legs arrived in a box with obvious damage. The table top had a large, full diameter crack in it. We processed a replacement through Amazon, which was fairly easy. We taped up the box and UPS picked it up for free. We received the replacement a few days later. This time the box did not look damaged but the tape was mostly unsealed. However, the top of the table had a long crack. It doesn't go all the way through the table top but is ugly and will probably worsen.The frustrating part is having to deal with all of the packaging. These boxes are packed with a great deal of styrofoam and cardboard pieces, theoretically to protect the pieces in transit. I have had to deal with 2 sets of this miserable styrofoam all over our garage and home. We want to give Home Styles a chance to make this right but we don't want the hassle of once again returning this and taking a chance that the 3rd will not be damaged.

I bought this table to replace a dining table I hated from the date of its arrival. This table is the perfect size for my small dining nook and goes perfectly with the 4 upholstered wheeled chairs I have. It looks like a more expensive table than I expected. The table arrived well packaged, not a scratch anywhere, and was easy to assemble in just a few minutes. I couldn't be happier with this purchase!
