My black jacjet is fading. Will this help to bring back the original colour as well ad proofing it ?

I doubt it, I have a blue one that is faded and it doesn't bring back the colour to that.

Will this product work if you don’t tumble dry?

Well, the washing part will work but as the instructions specifically call for tumble drying, it's pretty safe to say that the proofing won't be 100%. You might be able to simulate a poor tumble drying by draping the garment over a hot radiator for 10 minutes, giving it a rough-up and putting it over the radiator again... and repeat until the garment's dry.

I can't answer that directly not knowing what fabric your coat is made of. Grangers say their product is suitable principally for GoreTex and similar products, i.e. what you might call 'action outdoor wear'. If your coat is more of a fashion outdoor garment made of a fibrous material, I suspect it's not suitable. If you can contact the manufacturers for advice, I'd do that if there's any uncertainty.
