A practical lightweight instrument for players who want secure lower range. The slide is nothing like as smooth as a well maintained metal slide, but compared to one which has the odd dink it's perfectly decent. The mouthpiece supplied is deep and helps with the secure lower range. Pedal notes, even with the F trigger, are relatively clean and there's plenty of dynamic range available to the more enthusiastic player. The only real downside is that it looks odd. Great as a practice instrument or for occasional players, and in a pop brass section it would look cool. Ranked in the orchestra or brass band, however, it just looks odd. Times will change though, and it's only a hundred quid for a fully functional instrument. Worth every penny. And it's only a kilo in weight. No more sore arms or shoulders.
