Walt Disney: An American Original (Commemorative Edition)

I am a huge Disney fan and wanted to learn more about the History. This book was recommended to me and I am so glad it was. This book is absolutely amazing!! The detail and research that obviously went in to writing this book is unbelievable!! Walt Disney was and is a true genius! I have really enjoyed getting to know him better and getting a better understanding of how things came to be. If you love Disney like I do. This is the book for you!!

This book beautifully put together and is fascinating. At least once in every chapter if find myself remarking well I never, who knew? Incredible insight into the mind and family of the man who created the happiest place on earth- highly recommend.

Omg I love this book and it looks so good on my media console! We just went to Disney and this year is the Disney 100 celebration so it was extra special and wonderful. I must have still been riding on the Disney high because when I got home I immediately purchased this commemorative edition book lol. I haven’t read the entire thing yet but what I have read has been very interesting and it just makes me like Walt Disney even more. What a hard working, tenacious, and innovative guy he was. Could parts of the book have been more detailed? Sure. But the book is made up of stories from 4 different authors and they did their best recounting their memories. I appreciated being able to peer into the window of Walt’s life, learning what I could. Right in the center of the book there are about 15 pages of pictures which were a delight to look at. The pictures really take you back in time. Most of them were in black and white but there were a few colored ones in there. This book is an absolute must for all Disney lovers!

You will know who Walt Disney was and what his legacy is.

I liked this book about Walt Disney as I like anything about him. The book is made up of several essays about different periods in the man's life. The book had four different authors. The book takes you through all of his life, from boyhood in Marceline to dying in California. I would have liked to see more context around the events in his life. The book offers some of it but in other places I found myself wanting to read more. In other places, it felt rushed just to get through the story. It offers some rare stories about his life and the various projects. That for sure will enlighten you. In other places, I know there is more about the unique greatness of this man from Missouri which the book misses.

I was brought up having watched Mr. Disney on Sundays. Going to the theater on a Saturday afternoon to watch his movies. It's a great book to reminisce about what I experienced growing up and finding out things that I never knew. Finding out that animated movies I watched actually came out earlier then when I saw them (and you'd never know that if you hadn't read this book). This is a book that I'm so glad that I got (and in hardcover) - it's a keeper.

What a great book about this fascinating man. From a very young age he had relentless drive and creativity. He never accepted no, but found a way to do it. I enjoyed reading of the step by step by step process he took along with his brother and employees to create and build his empire. He had a great work ethic, admitted when he was wrong, loved his family, was a good moral man, etc. He'd roll over in his grave over what Disney produces now. He'd love the technology but not the content. No politics in the book, just read it.

Having spent my life in the Cinema l needed to pass on my experiences of a life with film just one of many books l needed to give....
