Italian-English Dictionary (Barron's Bilingual Dictionaries)

Very heavy book. There hasn’t been a word that I can’t find . A great book for someone learning Italian.

Love this dictionary- easy to comprehend in English or Italian- love the verb conjugations in the back- it’s a bit thick but worth the thorough translation

Barron's Italian & English Dictionary An excellent dictionary which should meet the needs of Italian language learners at different levels. Where necessary, some entries are explained with a high level of detail. Printing the entries in blue with the rest of text in black makes it very easy and organized to look up entries. The vinyl-bound version at 8 3/4" L, 6" W, 2" H and weighing 3 lbs. is not convenient to carry around--meant for home use. However, the big bonus is the free electronic dictionary. It was very easy to download onto my Windows 7 laptop. Guess you can download it if your Windows is 7 only--rather limited. Being able to download it on nearly all PDAs and smartphones will make this dictionary portable--solves the bulkiness problem. Amazon's very low price for a new book makes this a fantastic bargain. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

I was not expecting this purchase to be so cool!! I love that it begins with the Italian vocabulary and splits into English at the back. I love that when you look up a word in, say, the Italian language, it still shows you the word in English. There is a map in, what seems to be, the middle of the book. There's this 'how-to' section that explains the use of the book very clearly right when you open the darn thing. It provides a section on just suffixes, abbreviations, and more! I absolutely recommend this to anyone learning Italian. It is bulky though! That threw me off some, but still a great buy.

This will be a big help in my Italian studies: recently updated (2017); comprehensive (over 100,000 entries); and also in larger print than the tattered and dog-eared Bantam's New College paperback I've had for years. It also contains a 130-page concise Italian grammar text at the end...extremely useful.However, it's also much larger in size, and considerably heavier than these handy paperback versions you slip in your backpack before heading to the piazza. So...a good desk reference piece, and always useful for upper-body toning in a pinch, but not something I'll be lugging across Italy.

Barron's foreign language editions have always been excellent. This Italian dictionary is really outstanding.It is quite an extensive volume and reasonably priced.

I am learning Italian on an app on my iphone and this Barron’s dictionary has been really helpful for me to look up words that the app doesn’t give a definition for. It is a large and heavy paperback, though, so it is too bulky to put in my purse but it would fit in a backpack.

I would like more Italian vocabularies . I am using this dictionary for understanding Itallian music.

This is a very good dictionary. I wanted a dictionary with American idiomatic expressions, since this is an area where British and American can really diverge. It also has a good short grammar for both English readers and Italian. Very thorough and a fine addition to my library.

I bought this for use of studying Italian. I haven't been able to set up the one for the computer and tried to get some help and haven't yet. I still don't have access to the computerized version. Regardless of that, I am pleased with the dictionary and will get much use out of it!
