Good Design
We have had two different small tillers, both gas-powered over the last 20 years. Decided to purchase this cordless version this time when the last one failed (gears). The tines are not visible as you use it. Was not used to this. Turns out to be an asset. You can use the shroud as a guide to get close to plants without hitting them. The tiller did not bog down when you lift up on the handles and pull it back causing it to dig in. We use this type of tiller for cultivating weeds. The performance was excellent. A pin with hinch pin holds the wheels on. At first I was surprised because there was a lot of play in this connection. But turns out to be a nice feature because the wheels float or rotate a bit as the tiller digs. Works good. The pin fell out when I rolled the unit off a concrete slab (did not know it at the time). And the pin fell out. I replaced it with a small stove bolt and double nuts. Will not be an issue again. Two types of pins were included to hold on the tines. Use the Cotter-type. The ring type will not work. Not sure why both were included. Glad they made the change though. Overall, highly recommend this tiller! Excellent design. I am excited about using this and not the screaming gas/oil name-brand powered unit we had. I am optimistic that the gears will last.

Competes perfectly with Honda mini gas tiller
My Honda tiller gave-up-the-ghost, at the beginning of a big tilling project. After much wasted time trying to repair it; I finally bit the bullet and ordered this Greenworks cordless (battery-powered) model.I didn’t want to assemble the new Greenworks tiller, because it’s something new to learn (which for me is the bugle-call for procrastination). but I remembered a video review of someone who was reviewing the same model, and it looked easy; so I took a deep breath, and gathered the few included parts, and slid them on... and was done in minutes.I did not assemble the wheels to the tiller, because I didn’t want them interfering with getting a good, deep, grip on the soil to be tilled. Perhaps it wouldn’t have made any difference; but that was my mindset. For you, remember that IF YOU DON’T INSTALL THE WHEELS, then the tiller will not stand upright when not in use... and also you will have to carry the tiller, and it’s full weight, when transporting the tiller across the yard, or driveway, or wherever you’re going (and it is a very awkward, cumbersome, tool to carry). Nevertheless, because I’m plenty strong, I still always chose to lift, and carry, it.Upon activating the tiller, with the handlebar controls, the tines began slowly turning... and then sped up considerably moments later. After time, I realized that this was normal. Furthermore, it became apparent that this tiller’s tines are geared to turn slower than you would expect, at all times. I also remembered that another reviewer had said that this tiller has a slow standard tine speed; and from my perspective, it matters not. I found the power, and ability to till the soil was remarkably good. It performed as well as my gas powered mini tiller, which is all I could hope for.I really enjoyed pressing a button, pulling a lever, and then having uninterrupted tilling until the battery ran out of juice. Then 35 minutes later, after charging the battery, I was back in business. I really didn’t mind waiting for the battery to charge, as it gave me time to rest. For me, pulling the tiller backwards, while letting it dig-in, gave the best results... as it has with all tillers I’ve ever used, big and small. The area I needed to till was a former lawn area consisting of clay soil which had been dug-up, and then filled back in, and tamped down with a backhoe. There were lots of rocks. This little battery powered tiller had no problem digging through the hardened soil, and also no problem dislodging rocks as big as my fist. I tilled 1500 square feet of the aforementioned soil (an area about 12 ft. X 120 ft.). I considered this tool to be flawless during the many weeks I spent using it for hours each day.At some point, I opened-up the box to a Greenworks 80 Volt chainsaw, which I’d yet to try. This was so that I could harvest the included 2 AmpHour lithium battery... which allowed me to have 2 identical batteries to allow me to continue tilling, while the other battery was charging. This was great, but an unexpected downside was that one of my fingers (left hand ring-finger) went numb from all of the continuous tilling... and has slowly been recovering for a month; so do yourself a favor and wear gloves to cut down on the subtle vibrations going to your hands.I have a soft spot for tools, and appliances, which do exactly what they’re supposed to do, and this 80-volt Greenworks tiller is in that category.I have no complaints, and nothing bad to say about it. It solved my problem (of needing a reliable and tiller) completely... and it is 100% functional for it’s intended purpose.I give it Two thumbs Up!

Love this little powerhouse
This is my 5th Green works product and it doesn’t disappoint. It is light weight, easy to handle and does an excellent job of keeping my garden weed free between the rows and around the perimeter. I am a 66 year old woman and I have had no trouble using this product. The assembly directions and steps were more difficult than their other products, but I got it done.

Great garden tool
Ordered this battery rototiller because I got tired of pull start tillers, never work when you want to use them. Tilled up my garden for the first time this year with it. The ground was hard so it took a little while to break thru the dry crust. Got about 30 minutes on the first battery because I was working it pretty hard. When I ordered the tiller I ordered a second battery. Once I got thru the crusted dirt with the first battery, the second battery lasted 45 minutes and still had 1/3 battery left. This tiller did as good as my Mantis tiller but without the hassle. I left the wheels off because it digs better. Got the soil tilled almost 6” deep. Charging time from dead to full, 35 minutes I’d recommend this to any gardener my age, I’m in my 80’s and was a pleasure watching the garden grow. Now I can easily till between the rows without getting on my knees to pull weeds. OLD SCOOL METHODS JUST GOT BETTER 👍

Impressive power for small work areas.
Struggles with roots, you will need to take lots of breaks and remove the roots. This will allow it to cool down a bit as the main bearing gets really warm. This is good for small patches around 5x5 or 7x7.

Works great
Had this a week now and I’m very happy with. I started using it on are beach area and it did what I needed to do. The battery was still going strong after a hour of uses. I then used it in my garden and ran it for another 30 minutes.

Great for the garden
When you receive this item it was easy to put together. Check the battery pack to make sure the two springs inside are straight up because this is what the battery pushes against to snap in.It runs great and its a helping hand for those weeds. This company backs up their product if there is any questions or concerns.

Meant for previously prepared soil
This tiller is indeed very lightweight and easy to use. It is meant however for previously prepared soil. That is- no large amounts of roots. It will seize and stop with just a small amount of roots. The battery also wears down quickly if there are lots of roots.

The soil needs to be relatively malleable
Not for hard soil. I have a hard soil with clay and sand. I need to break it before using this. But to maintain soil and mixing in compost and/or peat moss, it is perfect and saves your back.

Machine is wonderful in my vegetable garden
It worked better than I expected, I like the option of height adjustment as well as the option to remove the 2 outer tines to achieve a narrow path.

Smal can go between rows in the garden.
Wish we had bought one sooner.
