This is the best, store bought, big batch you can get--in my opinion. It's fresh, doesn;t have that waxy shine or toughness of many other "premium" jerkys. It is soft and natural looking and delicious. My only complaint is is there's a touch too much sodium...It's noticeably saltier than Tillamook, for example, but the quiality is still a lot better. The only better Jerky I've had is from small batch, local producers. But for price and wide availability...this is the best.

Let me start with the cons. This is very salty. If you eat it as a snack, you'll need a tall glass of water or another beverage. Alternatively, you can put it in a mug, pour water over it, and fish out the pieces to eat, and then heat the water and drink it as a broth. Or use it to cook with, and use less salt in the recipe. Another downside is that it has sodium nitrite as preservative. I think fear of small amounts of preservatives is irrational, but I also know that for some people, it's a dealbreaker. For me, the presence of preservatives is a plus. In the past, I've had "preservative-free" jerky go moldy on me. Maybe it's just the area I live in, high humidity in the air. I had to store that jerky in the freezer. But this at least lasts long enough for me to be able to eat it! Another pro is that it's high in protein. By weight, it's straight up 50% protein, and by calories, it's 80% protein! It's very low in saturated fat. As long as you don't have an undue fear of preservatives or red meat, this can fit into most diets and help a lot of people meet their health/fitness goals. It's also very low in carbs and has no added sugars, so can fit into low carb and keto diets.

These are good in sandwhiches, i like to use it in place of roast beef. I do wheat bread, mayo, mustard, onion, pickles, lettuce, tomatoe, and some of this jerkey, its salty too it might be a bit too salty for some, it doesnt have any artificial sweeteners in it like how some other sugarless beef jerkies do.

I got the zero sugar version in hopes to make it a little bit healthier while on a hunting trip, only problem is is I think they replace the sugar with salt. This stuff is a salt bomb. It's no joke I can hardly eat it. Other than that, the flavor seems good. The meat is sort of funky which is the byproduct of being run through a tenderizing machine, but I can live with that. Whatever flavor is on here, and including the salt, is dusted on the outside of it so a lot of crumbs fall off of it while you're eating it. So besides being insanely salty it's not very friendly for eating out in the field. I rarely ever think something is totally inedible but this is close to it. So sorry because I really wanted to like it. If you're a salt lover then your review will be different.

I tried the Old Trapper Zero Sugar Beef Jerky (8 oz, Natural Wood Smoked) and it’s surprisingly delicious. The jerky is tender, flavorful, and smoky, with none of the sugar or extra carbs you often find in other brands. Perfect for keto snacks, on-the-go munching, or a protein boost anytime. The individual package is convenient, keeps the jerky fresh, and the portion size is just right for a satisfying snack.
