Oral-B Electric Toothbrush: The Jet Engine for Your Mouth
I never thought I'd utter the words “this toothbrush makes me feel powerful”... yet here we are. Let me set the scene: my previous toothbrush—let's call it “The Whimper”—struggled to rotate fast enough to keep up with the slow descent of gravity. It buzzed like a suspicious fridge and felt about as effective as brushing my teeth with a damp squirrel. Enter the Oral-B upgrade—a toothbrush so mighty it sounds like it’s preparing for takeoff. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if it filed a flight plan with the Civil Aviation Authority. ✅ Why It’s Glorious - It revs up like a Formula 1 car and cleans like my dentist owes me money. - It’s got more brushing modes than a coffee machine has settings—one probably summons oral hygiene gods. - The head pivots like it knows what it's doing. My molars now glisten like polished marbles. 💸 About Those Heads Yes, the replacement heads are definitely more expensive. I tried to buy one and briefly considered taking out a mortgage. But wow—each bristle feels custom-crafted by unicorns using dental science and magic. Worth the extra quid? You bet. My teeth squeak when I smile. Strangers compliment me in the street. My gums sing hymns. So if your current toothbrush is more “lazy hamster” than “mouth tornado,” make the switch. It’s like strapping a jetpack to your morning routine.

Great product
Great quality and price. Would highly recommend.

Deep clean
Offers brilliant cleaning compared to a Manuel brush. The only 2 drawbacks I have found are firstly it only uses a 2 pin plug for charging and secondly charging can take many hours.

Best toothbrush for most people
Bought as a present but I have the iO8. Build quality/design is great, nice colour, and comfortable to hold while brushing. Durable and includes a case perfect for travelling. I prefer the iO8 as it helps me brush evenly as it tracks where I brush but most people will be fine without this.

New design which is uncomfortable and pointless
I was disappointed by this toothbrush. First off you can't see when the light is red as it's only on the front of the toothbrush when brushing, so what's the point of having it in the first place. The toothbrush replacement heads are over priced, they do not last long when using. As Oral b have changed the toothbrush heads to a wider base, it is uncomfortable to use when brushing your back teeth. Poor design. I've now bought a cheaper Oral b model with the old style toothbrush head. Far better.

Cleaner teeth but two-pin charger and can be costly long run.
First time electric toothbrush user here. Before I start I notice a lot of the reviews on here are for an older 2017 Pro model so this is for the more recent 2025 iO2. Unpacking =========== First impression I found it odd it arrived in a brown unbranded cardboard box. At first I thought it was just the retailer adding excess packaging but it was actually the main box itself. Usually this means the retailer got a mass discount for OEM goods where packaging and instructions are excluded. Might have been why this was on sale when I bought it. Quite dusty opening it too. That said, the contents seem to be complete despite the missing outer sleeve you'll find in retail stores; "Gentle Clean" brush head, 2-pin charger, handle, two travel cases and even printed instructions. Assembly & Use =============== Assembly is easy enough but saving the mode can be a little confusing despite the picture oriented leaflet. Pressing the power button starts it in the most sensitive mode and then pressing it two more times cycles through the remaining two; sensitive and regular. Once you've cycled to the one you'll be sticking to, you hold the button until it turns off and the light blinks to indicate it saved the setting. Little icons aren't needed to know what mode it's in since you can hear the intensity but a nice to have like in the more expensive models. After that whenever you press the button to turn on the toothbrush it's fixed to that mode. Now you need to hold the power button to turn it off or you'll be cycling through modes again. Other than that, it's pretty straight forward. As a first time electric toothbrush user, I think the head takes some getting used to as it feels bigger and thicker than a regular toothbrush. It's also fairly much as loud as an electric razor which might be a problem when brushing at night. I have noticed cleaner teeth. Areas that had prominent plaque build-up despite focusing more on those areas with manual brushing didn't seem to have much effect. Since using this it has steadily worn it down over the first week of use. I'd suggest watching a video of how it's used and if you're the impatient type, you might not enjoy holding the brush in place for each tooth. The LED light turning red is pretty useless as a warning light when you're putting in too much pressure because you most likely can't see it. Fortunately you do feel it suddenly slowing down. Maintenance =========== Following the instructions, I detach the head and give both it and the handle a rinse after each use. Then I keep them separate to dry; the head diagonally in a cup so the water doesn't pool at the base. I've seen some off-site reviews where visible black gunk eventually accumulates despite rinsing every time but after 3 months of use, nothing visible yet. Then again, everyone's oral biome is different. These li-ion battery toothbrushes are much more expensive than the alternative alkaline battery powered ones like the Pro Expert but since they hold charge better than regular NiMH rechargeable batteries I decided to go for this anyway. Removeable battery was an important factor and the li-on battery seems easy enough to replace yourself. For some reason Oral-B doesn't offer their own replacement... Probably why the warning states "no user serviceable parts" despite instructions showing how to remove it. Out of the box, my handle arrived charged and used on the most sensitive mode, lasted 18 days (brushing twice) before the low battery light started blinking. A full charge gave 26 days use so close to a month. It's considerably shorter when compared to an off-site review I read which claimed to have gotten 37 days out of this after taking 16 hours to charge. If you left it on the stand everyday the slow charge would still suffice as it doesn't need to be fully charged for use of course. It's still pretty insane that such a small 600mAh battery takes so long to charge today when modern gadgets offer fast charge ("advanced" 7+ models offers it of course...) The first time I left it charging overnight I was quite alarmed it still blinked red when I took it off the charger. Thought I had a defected product but when I used it, it no longer flashed low battery so it was some indication it did charge. Also, despite the notch on the base, it is possible to place it incorrectly. When you do, the light won't flash but the toothbrush still somewhat manages to (barely) charge. Sadly Oral-B hasn't gone down the USB-C charging route yet despite being a 2025 model and the focus on fewer proprietary chargers. This means if you're bringing it with you on trips, you'll need to bring the charger too. The 2 pin charging stand only has a 1 metre cable which meant you may find issues running it from the mains to a desk. Overall, as a first time electric toothbrush user, I think it's a fair price being on the lowest end of the iO range but considering how new this model is, I'm knocking off 2 stars due to some design issues. Does it make teeth cleaner? Yes, personally I think it's done a better job than manual brushing. It might seem costly in the long run but if it means less intense cleaning sessions with the hygenist and fewer dental issues then, it could still be worth considering. + Certainly feels and looks cleaner than manual brushing. + Replaceable li-ion battery (according to instructions anyway, yet to try) + Easy to attach and detach brush head for rinsing. + Decent battery life; 26 days (on most sensitive setting) after a full charge. - Not USB-C rechargeable. - Proprietary 2 pin charger with a short 1 metre cable. - 16 hours to fully charge from empty! (You can keep it charged daily too of course.) - Obscured pressure warning light. - Noise like an electric razor. Maybe an issue for late night brushing. - £5 - 7 / 3 months for first party toothbrush heads.
