Mizuno Prospect Series uses full grain pigskin leather, providing great durability and enhanced softness. Pioneered and perfected by Mizuno, Power Close technology makes catching significantly easier to help your Prospect learn to love the game. It's not a perfect first glove unless you see the Power Close stamp.

Best Youth Glove on the market.
These Muzuno Prospect series are hands down the best gloves for any kids ages 3-8. Several reasons: Real leather - this isn't the "pleather" stuff. Soft - these are not stiff and easy to break in. Power Close + Tartan Flex Web - this design is what sets these gloves from all others. I hope the designer at Mizuno got a big raise for creating this. This simple triangular cut out (Power Close technology ) near the bottom of the pinky finger allows for kids to close the glove much easier, especially when young kids do not have strong hands to close the glove. In addition, the Tartan Flex Web design stops the laces short at the top of the pocket, where it connects with the top of the pointer finger, which allows for an easier close in the perfect spot. I'm an ex-college baseball player, dad to 3 young boys, youth coach and a researcher of most anything. For this value, there is no other glove I'd put on my son's hand or recommend to another parent.

Do you know if you child needs a right or left handed glove?
This is a really nice glove. I actually purchased this exact glove twice, but it was because of a really strange reason. At 7-8 years old I bought my son a glove that goes on the left hand, so that he could throw right handed. That’s when I figured out that I was actually a really bad “Dad” because I never realized he was actually left handed, which needs a right handed glove. This purchase was for the right hand glove for lefty’s. Well THIS “Dad” realized I have to do better and not work so much. Actually spend time playing catch with my son to know he is left handed. Moral of the story is this is a great glove, but it is only a great glove when Dad and/or Mom are aware which hand your child actually uses to throw with. Don’t be like this Dad and get it right up front. You can do it right up front by being a quality parent. While this event saddened me, it really opened my eyes about how poor of a job I was doing at being a Father! Working to change that now...

This glove is amazing!!! Your kid will thank you. My son is so happy with it
My son loves this glove. Out of the box it's great needs very little break in. He said it's so much easier to catch the ball with this glove he's 10 years old but on the small side. So he can use it for another year or 2. From my point of view nice thick leather in the palm and fingers but with the relief cut it has he can close it very easy.

Easy to close and use right out of the bag.
Such a great baseball glove. It comes already super soft and broken in feeling. The best gloves out there right now are these power close ones. They are especially great for kids who don’t always have the strength to close their glove when fielding or catching the ball because right away they are able to close this glove. We’ve purchase 3 already and won’t go any differently when it comes to having the best baseball glove. And you can’t beat the price for how wonderful this glove really is.

Great glove!
Got this for my 7 yr old son who uses it 6 days a week as he is very active. He plays SS so the glove gets daily reps. For him, the Mizuno youth line of gloves is the best there is for this age group. The Power Close systems is great, it is light and the leather is soft. We tried the Wilson A500 etc and the leather sucked as it never molded and seemed like plastic. We have tried the Rawlings and it was too stiff and pocket was too deep. Good choice for kids. We have two of them in case they change the model!!

Great glove for new or younger players!
All of my girls have started with a Mizuno glove for tee ball at 4 or 5 (I have 4, so we've bought a few...). This glove was for my youngest playing her first season, but there is a reason we keep coming back for a Mizuno. Soft, easy to close, and lasts through the beating the little ones will undoubtably put them through. My oldest is 15 and still has her first Mizuno...This fit my 4 year old's hand nicely - a little room to grow, but still capable of closing it just fine. Let's be honest - they're not going to use this more than a season or two before they're ready for something a little bigger. But for this price point I don't mind buying a new one each time to start them off right. There's nothing more frustrating for them than a stiff glove they can't close and catch reliably with. When they're starting out it's all about building their confidence in their growing skills, and this glove will give them just that.

Nice glove
My 9 yr old son outgrew his old lefty glove and I decided to invest in this brand for him. Wow, I was really impressed with the quality of this this glove. The leather is soft but still needed to be broke in for a couple days. Once broke in my son had a good handle with it....he loves it. Catches the ball with ease. Loves where he can tighten the strap for a more secure fit. I know this glove will last for many years of him playing baseball. Highly recommend!!!

Perfection.
Little League coach-turned-parent here. Got the 9 inch prospect power close for a 3 year old with tiny hands and it works great! The person who thought to cut out the little triangle in just the right spot has obviously taught young children to catch a baseball before. Brilliant! Shape and fit will help a beginner learn the mechanics of catching/fielding and minimize frustration from the ball bouncing right back out no matter how hard they squeeze :) Good quality at this price point: nice and flexible but not floppy, will stand up to years of abuse and will probably fit until coach pitch when she can hand it down to the next kid. Mizunos hold up a long time—I’ve had mine for 20 years and it’s taken a beating, but is still perfect in every way. Palm is thick enough to cushion but not so thick that the ball gets lost. Butter-soft inside. Light enough not to weigh down a teeny wrist and arm which is nice; the learning curve for catching moving objects is steep enough without crummy gear.

This is a LEFT HAND THROW glove
Other reviewers complained of the same. I was foolish and bought from Amazon Warehouse Deals... which, despite their reassuring stickers that the item was inspected carefully, I'm pretty sure just mindlessly resells returns. So, despite the description stating this was a right hand throw glove I received the opposite. The picture is accurate. Description is not. Would have been a great deal. Maybe now it'll show up in Warehouse deals for even less money as it's likely been sold 3x by now.

Nice lightweight glove for youth
This is a nice glove but we bought the 10" size. That size is smaller than expected and tagged right on the glove says for age 3-6yrs. Looks nice though and flexes easily. Would be a nice glove for teeball.
