Five Stars

Perfect for shredding, light weight, easily accessible to 24th fret. I love this guitar

but it easily gets a 4 due to quality for the cost

I'm not going to give this guitar a 5. There's no way anything at this price range could ever get a 5, but it easily gets a 4 due to quality for the cost.It stays in tune relatively well, though due to the vibrato bridge, it does eventually detune high, nothing unusual there. It has a nice thin, satiny neck, and the rosewood fretboard fits well with the black body. It's definitely a beginner's guitar, but it has plenty of quality as well. It's a good weight, being not too light nor too heavy, and it feels pretty solid in terms of materials. It's a little unfortunate that the headstock and neck couldn't be one piece, but that's what you can expect from a guitar in this price range. The pickups are a bit weak, but not too much so. They are decent-sounding though. Far better than I expected, actually. For those somewhat unfamiliar with Jacksons (as I was), the headstock is only black on the front. Not a big deal, but would have been kinda cool to have it painted all the way around.Tuning keys are smooth and feel solid for being plastic, and they're quite accurate. The string-through design is pretty common in strat-style bodies, so no surprise there. It was plenty easy to get up and running out of the box.Overall, worth the price, even if it's not the best guitar you'll ever have. I just wanted something I could toss around, essentially, but it isn't without quality. If you're a beginner, need a backup guitar, or just can't afford something high-end for your main axe right now, it's absolutely fine. Go for it! I checked out lower-end Fenders/Squiers, tried out plenty of low-end Warlocks, and passed on the lower-end Epiphones since they're still way more expensive than most budget guitars. This had the style, feel, and sound I was looking for in a beater guitar.

Great value guitar

Great value guitar. Neck feels comfortably thin. Pickups sound decent enough for metal. Nut slot for the A-string was cut a little too low though.

Nice, solid guitar

Nice, solid guitar. Plays easily with good action. The only thing I had a problem was the tremolo arm diameter was larger than the point where it is inserted into the tremolo. I subsequently drilled it out myself. Perfect fit now.
