Perfect Control
These Gas springs worked perfectly on my heavy, overhead wood doors. They allow full control and are a breeze to open and close. I was hesitant because such a strong spring might require too much force to close but that was not the case. Since my doors are large and heavy I installed two per and they are still easy to open and close. I highly recommend these gas springs, they are really great.

Works as advertised, but installation must be precise
After a bit of a struggle in finding the perfect mounting location to open at 90 degrees and still fully close, this has worked very well and reliably, having installed this a few months ago. Due to the heavy weight of the hinged cover in my application, I had to use 2 pair, which made installation even more of a challenge. Once installed, works great.

Arrived missing the mounting hardware pictured
These could have received a 5 star rating from me, but sadly I was very disappointed when they arrived without the ball stud mounts clearly seen in the product photo.Since I needed these right away, I immediately contacted Amazon who as always was awesome about the whole situation, but unfortunately they were not able to send out the missing parts and could only offer me a refund.I decided to purchase the ball stud mounts locally and just make due since this is a project that I needed to finish right away. The struts themselves seem ok, I was expecting metal but it seems as though they are covered in plastic which surprised me. They are also surprisingly strong for their size.I was never able to confirm whether or not these actually come with the ball stud mounts, so you might want to confirm this with the seller before ordering. If they don't include them then I would be curious as to why they are in the photo.

VERY SHORT LIFE
A really bad buy!!!!!!!!Have gone through two sets of these in five years. They start to die after about 18 months and only hold half way, at best, after two years. They are on six doors, three of which only get opened twice a month at most.Burned twice, will not buy again.

The time will tell
I have ordered this lid-stay's at Amazon, and for the first time the order vent to wrong part of the country, after the delivery notification I have contacted the seller with inquiry about my order. The reply was just one sentence with new tracking number...The customer service skills are absent. After installing the items following directions to the letter and checking the measurements at least seven times - two lids next to each other have one half inch difference on the level when open.Upon opening and closing loud and sudden stopping, seams that spring is to hard for the job. As to longevity - time will show...01/06/2012 The time has come to take one more star off. Like I have suspected the spring is to hard it has reaped the bottom screws out of the cabinet wall...Now I have to fix the hols...Will not recommend to any job other then solid wood side and lids...

Great product
Bought a pair to replace ones that would not hold a cabinet door up. Very easy to install and work perfectly. So well I will likely replace the other two that I thought were working fine.

Good product but terrible instructions
This product is very good for the seat bench that I used it on. It works great and looks nice. The biggest problem is the poor instructions that have poor pictures to set it up. Actual pictures would be more helpful then the poor drawings.

They work well but expect them to fail soon afterr the warranty expires...
This is the fourth set of these that we have purchased for a pair of overhead cabinets. The doors are relatively small and well within the stated capacity of the springs. They are used, perhaps, 6 - 8 times per week. Each pair we have owned has failed about 18-24 months after 1st use. I looked at alternatives but concluded it would be cheaper just to replace these when they fail. Other springs I looked at would have required filling the existing mounting holes with dowel rods and drilling new ones. In the end I concluded it was not worth it.
